Is there anyway to repair door lock cylinders? My doors don't lock. I'm not sure if its the internals of the door or the clyinder. CJs sells the whole kits. Am I better off replacing the whole thing? I assume I need new keys if I replace the cylinders.

I welcome any suggestions.

Ok as most know my C4 took a S@%# and to rebuild it its going to cost about 1000 w/ a new stall.

I would really love to put a T-5 in the car but all this research is making my head hurt.

So I have a J code 302 which stock had 230 HP and 310 TQ so Im looking a T5s and some say like torque rating 233 some say 300...does that mean if i bought one with 300 TQ rating Id tear it apart?

also if I buy all the parts needed is this install something I can do myself cause im transmission ...

well, the sending unit crapped out again, same gromet everytime, seems like the gas warps it which causes it to leake.

Got a new one to replace it and now Im having trouple with it leaking around the o ring/ lockin ring, have drained the tank and resituated the o-ring gasket 3 times now with no luck.

Can I use some sort of gasket forming sealant around the tank/sending unit? Will that work to help seal the pieces together and stop the leake?

anyone have suggestions??

Ok so I lack in tools and equipment to do most jobs but as most "backyard mechanics" i can scrounge up enough to get by...as most of you know over the winter when i took the '68 for a short warm up run she decided to go kaput. She does run but the transmission won't go into gear only park to neutral...neutral to park...no matter what gear you are in it acts like neutral. So now that its warming up Ive gotten motivated to start fixing her...

my first task was to drop the trans pan ...

Went to Carlisle yesterday it was awesome! Found a few things and then found a bunch of other stuff from my wish list.

Ok, so the car has been burning about a qt of oil every 500-600 miles, talked with dad and he said a compression test may tell whats up, did test today and all but 1 came in within the 20 psi the book calls for, #8 was at 70 psi, down from the 115 psi from the test when i purchased her 3 years ago. soo here are the questions:

- Does that mean the piston rings are shot?

- Can you just remove the top or bottom to remove/replace rings?

- is it a full engine removal job?

well it happened again today while at the Auto store, the car wouldnt do anything when I turned the ignition, silence. The kid checked out the bat and alt and both were fine. I tried to turn it over a few times before he checked it out and once while he was checking, ...
