Question About SLP Loudmouths Empty Question About SLP Loudmouths

Post by discodave Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:50 pm

I just got my SLP Loudmouths in the mail yesterday and had them installed. They sound great on my V6 with my true dual setup with H-Pipe.

What surprised me when I opened the box and looked at the mufflers is that they're not mufflers at all. They're just straight pipes really, no mufflers at all. I knew it was considered a "muffler delete" but didn't actually expect to see just two pipes and two long exhaust tips. Not that I'm complaining or anything. They sound really good.

What's the benefit of spending 350 bucks on the SLP Loudmouths when you could just fab up some straight pipes with tips for probably half the price?

Anybody know?

Try reproducing the sound. That would be the difference.

I guess you're right. It's all in the bends of the pipe I guess. Don't get me wrong, I believe it was money well spent because my V6 sound mean as hell now. Not raspy, poppy at all.

I broke down and bought the SLP's too when I had cats on my car. It sounded real nice for a catted midpipe, I think you'll love em. Took a vid (that's my brother talking haha). Car was completely stock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEPCUa7zjEE

Wouldn't ever go back to a catted midpipe after going off-road...never...the volume is there now Smile Loudmouths are a 100% no-no with the off-road midpipe though. Loud like thunder a hundred feet away, but it sounds like pure junk.

I agree. i am running catted x pipe and deletes and love the sound. You do not get the popping sound and rattle from the exhaust when reved up. Also has a nice ring tone when cruising 55 or 60 ha ha......

You'll get many compliments with the SLP set up. I actually let someone else drive my car so I could hear what all the fuss was about..............I must say, it sounds pretty damn good.

I'll have to do that. It sounds pretty good from the driver's seat, but I'm anxious to hear it from outside the car as the car drives away.

On the 50 forums no one like the slp's. They say it sounds like a truck. I have them, I like them.

You know, at idle it does sound a little "tractor-ish" but I think it's a cool sound. Definitely not a wimpy sound, but a unique sound.

Well they sound good on my V6 Smile I've been told that Longtubes will make it very raspy and sound bad. With stock headers, though, they should sound good.

i had SLP 1's on my white V6 and they really brought the sound out in the sixer. Neighbor told me i was his "alarm clock" in the morning when i went to school.

I may be putting them on my five oh in the future, not sure yet, depends on the OBD 1 testing stuff

but they sound good, definatley a unique sound and sounds like a real badass!
