4.10 FRPP
I've been hearing lots of rave reviews from people that have automatics and the 4.10 gear. Been thinking about doing the switch. I told myself I was only going to do mods that could be easily reversed and this is a huge step. Anyone have the pros and cons?
Also anyone know how much JPC charges for gear install if I supply my own and has anyone else have work done by them?

Re: 4.10 FRPP
They are awesome and stand behind there work. They cost a little but recommend them. I am having my long tube headers installed by them. They will however charge a slight higher rate for items installed not purchased by them. However I either make them match the price or order them from somewhere else. Just remember if you order them from somewhere else and there is a problem you will have to deal with it. If you order from them, it is there monkey. 4:10 will put alot of step to your automatic. Good luck

Re: 4.10 FRPP
Get my buddy Mike to do it. He's way cheaper then JPC. He's a member here, MJR46. Send him a pm. His shop is in Frederick.
You can get the gears from here
http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/index.php?cPath=3_37
you won't find them much cheaper, 139.00 for 4.10's

Re: 4.10 FRPP
That's a great price, I am taking it I will need to update my tune?(Here we go again lol). Brenspeed is a little anal about that. Either I buy the part(s) from them and get free updates to my 3 octanes or I have to pay them for a mail order tune.

Re: 4.10 FRPP
Which tuner do you have? You dont need a new tune, you just need to change the gear ratio on your tune through the tuner.

Re: 4.10 FRPP
I have the tuner, sct and brenspeed tune, you dont need a new tune. Just change the gear setting and install tune again. Make sure you bring the tuner and wheel lug key with you.

Re: 4.10 FRPP
PM sent and I also called JPC for a quote. They are supposed to call me back..
Anyone have the address for them? Their website is outdated? I called the toll free number and the guy said they changed their number 4 yrs ago. I ended up using the white pages to get the local number. The address listed was different.

Re: 4.10 FRPP
Cool, thanks :D
lol, I got bit by the mod bug :s
I did some light reading on 4:10s and not sure if I'm just scaring myself or over thinking (which I tend to do..) Everyone that has those gears love it and never regretted it. What I picked up from reading was:
1. Reduction in top end speed. I don't ever forsee me doing 140 but how much do you loose?
2. Turns the GT into a super gas guzzler and is not good for long distance driving.
3. Faster wear and tear on the tranny.
My income is going to drastically change for the worse in a few months, so if it does eat up that much more gas, I might not be able to afford driving lol.

Re: 4.10 FRPP
Really depends on your driving habbits...
If your driving 90 all the time, then yeah you will see about 3mpg loss... but regular 70-80... you will only lose about 1mpg... not a huge difference...

If I buy the gear from fordracingparts.com, do I have to buy an additional install kit? If so, which one do I need?

Re: 4.10 FRPP
Nancy, definitely buy gears from Ford Racing, but make sure you buy the 4.10s with the product number ending in "A". Here is the product number for the 4.10s off of Ford Racing's website.
M-4209-G410A*
You can also get these from Summit Racing for cheaper. Here is the link:
http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=M-4209-G410A*&dds=1
As for an installation kit, you will need one. I recommend getting this one:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-4210-C/
This kit has EVERYTHING you need.
