2.3 out 302 in
OK so here we go, I was going to just have some fun with the car with the 4 banger in it for a while BUT, the car only has 53,000 miles on her and according to the way the trans works I believe it, but I think the motor had frozen one winter in the last 35 years, hell it could have been last winter as cold as it was, so the fun and frustration begins.
If you want to read a detailed story I am posting one on the Stangnet forum, heres a link Detailed story but for us I'll keep it short with pictures LOL
83 F150 motor {for now, unk sam wasn't as good to me as I expected this year} eBay in York PA
the guy I got it from said "it runs better with a 4 barrel carb, but I would have to get an adapter plate for it as he needed his" LOL, ADAPTER PLATE! OMG
Thats better.

SEE-YA 4 Banger
302 in, oh there are more add on parts that are not installed yet,
If you haven't figured it out till now, yes that God Awful Green will eventually cover the whole car, I Like It!
Headers are on the way and then on to the trans install.

OK, Trans isn't acting quite right in OD though, but at 150,000 miles what can you expect, oh ya, and alternator # 4 2 weeks ago, I git the top of the line this time from autozone with a lifetime replacement, so at least it wont cost me anything next time LOL
Re: 2.3 out 302 in
I could have gotten a free 302 had you contacted me and I would of delivered it as the guy I know pulls a lot of 289/302 out of mustangs. I was called about a 302 and it was in good shape and the owner wanted a GT-40. I hope all works well for you and I hope to see this beast in action in the future.

So the motor is out again, headers needed a small amount of customizing, and I had shimmed the motor up 1/4 inch to clear the oil pan, so the one pipe that goes under the crossmember is just about 1/4 inch off from bolting up, so I marked the oil pan and will modify it to fit a Mustang II without shimming the motor, then the headers should be fine.
So no big deal, all part of a custom car build.
Meanwhile, I restored and painted the nose section as I had it off the car, and it turned out great, I took the whole thing apart and painted the headlight buckets and replaced all of the hardware.
The pic doesn't do it justice

Looks pretty good so far Ed, nice work. I bet the 83 truck motor is a real slug though. Even in that lite ass car and auto trany. What gears are in it and are you gonna swap to a 8.8 rear

Re: 2.3 out 302 in
Well, the truck motor has to be better then the 165 HP original mustang II engine LOL and I put an aluminum manifold and 4 barrel Hollie on it, I'm also eventually going to put a cam in it too, the plan was for a 400 HP crate motor but between taxes not being what I thought, and the event of unemployment I had to throttle back, a lot, I just want it running now so I can have some fun with it, the good thing is, once I get it running then when its time for a batter motor, it will just be a matter of an engine swap, the modifications will be done to get everything to fit, as far as the rear, the plan is an 8" it will bolt up with little modification, not sure of gearing yet, but first things first, I started at the front and I'm working back, motor first, transmission and then the rear.

Sounds like things are coming together Ed. If I get some free time I may stop by to check out your progress.

Re: 2.3 out 302 in
Ya but ran into a glitch, but I think its a good glitch, the 94 and 95 GT's and the 94 to 04 V6's had a longer input shaft, so I had to order a spacer plate they make to use it with the earlier bell housing, its on the way, but to use the T5 on the II you need to cut the floor pan a little because the shifter on the T5 sets about an inch or so forward, so with the spacer I'm moving the shifter back about an inch or so, so I may not have to do as much cutting.
