S197 spark plugs and PCV ?????'s
Hit 30K and wanted to know if it is recommended to swap plugs/PCV etc at 30K? Not sure if they are 100k Plugs and cant seem to find the info to confirm, so I have questions....
There is a TSB out , not sure if its for the 4.6 or if it affect the 4.0 also? Any known issues or straight forward remove/replace? Recommended plugs?
PCV, anyone with a S197 done this, mileage, PITA etc???????
No more freebie oil/filter/tire rotations from the dealer since I didnt want to get their 30K service, I got the filters swapped out and oil done today, looking at knocking out anything else I need to at the 30K mark, Gracias

Nope you have platnium plugs so they are good for 100k+
Issue is with the 4.6 and the electrode getting stuck in the head. Not with the 4.0

Re: S197 spark plugs and PCV ?????'s
Just a little more info on the 4.6 head issue. This has been around since the exploder had the 3v alum heads. Ford like to keep their issues around as long as possible . The threads on the spark plug will either seize, or the electrode shank will break off inside of the head.
in 2008, they imlpemented the fix, by creating a new sparkplug, and valve cover design, that illiminates water from sitting in the pockets and draining into the spark plug holes... over 10 years of the same issue, and finally Ford fixes it... go figure...

Thanks Will, do you happen to know about the PCV, and when to swap out?

I deleted mine a while ago. Went with a catch can. rule of thumb though is that as long as you suck from the intake tube side and can not blow back into the valve cover you are good. However I cant even remember what or where it hooks up. IIRC its the driver side valve cover.
Unless your getting massive blow by the rings, or if you have forced induction... the PCV should last a fairly long time. If you get white smoke then you most likely have a bad valve... if its running clean... your good to go. Bernie would know more about this I think,
