What were you doing to grenade the tranny? How much power are you pushing and what are the intentions for the car?

That would help to know as far as what direction you should go.

im pretty sure. im shootin for around 400 to the wheels when i start doin the motor,i know i can easly get 300-350 wit the right head and cam setup but im thinkin of biulding a bulit proof block wit a n/a setup of around 350 and doin a turbo or s/c to maintain streetability

Havnt seen a stock clutch explode, unless the input shaft has broken. Input shafts dont break until around 550+ rwtq.

I guess its possible to explode a stock clutch if the rivets have worn off but it would have been making a seriously bad noise for a while.

The 3550 has a removable bell IIRC. if the tranny is fine(input shaft also) then I would get either another alum bellhousing, or step up to a SFI bellhousing, which will run you about 100 more than another stock bellhousing. Its a good safety choice though.

Unfortunately all we can do is speculate until you rip into it and find the actual broken parts, and cause.

for the 2v motors there are a few of options. One place to stay away from is Patriot. I took a friends set of heads that were just out of the box, and it wouldnt hold any vacuum on the intake or exhaust valves.

I always like Fox lake, Livernoise, and MMR, for heads. MMR has been building some sick cams as well, but for your application I would go with some off the shelf comp cams. Our cams dont come cheap... starting in the 800 range for cams.

I have owned BBK LT's in the past and they are a decent header company. However if you dont want to ahve to get a new pair every 3-4 years, I would get them coated, or go with a company that sells theirs ceramic coated. If you have big money then go with Kooks, American headers(prior partner/owner of Kooks), or stainless works. They make headers that will outlast your motor, or car...
