Door Locks on 65
Is there anyway to repair door lock cylinders? My doors don't lock. I'm not sure if its the internals of the door or the clyinder. CJs sells the whole kits. Am I better off replacing the whole thing? I assume I need new keys if I replace the cylinders.
I welcome any suggestions.

I would say open the panels and see what's going on inside first.

Re: Door Locks on 65
Switched out the door locks today. One of the clips on the rod was missing. We custom made a piece from a plastic wall anchor. Works great! I'm thinking about installing a quick disconnect on the battery. I worry that some one could pop or bypass the ignition and take my girl. I assume this acts as low cost auto kill?
Re: Door Locks on 65
The only problem w/ that is all someone has to do is jump the terminals of the quick disconnect to get her going. Maybe a chain bolted to the hood relaese so it will only allow it to be raised so far. Just enough to be able to un lock it.

Re: Door Locks on 65
Normally I wouldnt be worrying about this but she is going to be my daily driver this summer. My daughter is coming home from college and will be driving my car. I park on a gated lot and now I have door locks that work so I should be ok. I should probably up the insurance amount just incase.

You could always train a black mamba to live in the car and come out when you whistle or something....

Glad you got your locks fixed
Classic car insurance, to my knowledge, has limited mileage the car can be driven. That won't be that good if it's to be a daily driver.
For security, you could always get...

Re: Door Locks on 65
I have Hagerty and yes I'm limited to 1,000 miles a year. Its only going to be my daily for a few weeks in July and August. I'm not going to put more than 125 mi a week on it. I just can't see buying another car for my daughter to use for the short amount of time she is home from college.
Re: Door Locks on 65
1000 miles/year...that would NEVER do for me!!!!! Between Saturday's Philly cruise and last night's drive up to Will's house and back, I put 599 miles on mine. AND I get to drive up to B'more again tonight for yet another concert and 200+ miles! Since getting my car back on March 6th, I've put 3600 miles on her! With your daughter diving maybe 125 miles/week over two months is right at 1000 miles... Walmart sells bikes for less than $50

Re: Door Locks on 65
You know, most parts store sell the replacements plastic rod clips. As for the treat of having the car stolen, install a kill switch w/fuel shut off. Maybe ,just remove the rotor in the distributor. If they want it bad enough, they will just haul it away. Not enough to worry that they will steel it at home, but also when just parking it anywhere. "Lojack", maybe?
