Tuner trouble Empty Tuner trouble

Post by Silverstang Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:57 am

So I decide to put the 93 octane tune in the car to get ready for Gootc. I run the take down to almost empty. fill up with 93 run that down to about half tank then fill it back up with 93 to make sure I have nothing but 93 in the tank. Yesterday I load the new tune and take her out for a ride and everything seems to be fine. This morning on the way into work I notice when ever I come to a stop with the clutch in the tach bounces between 500 and 900 rpms. I have my idle set at 900 so not sure why it wants to drop below that. Pulling into the garage at work I thought it was going to stall on me.

Before I call brenspeed I wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue?

Did you pull the codes?

Sounds like you are in limp mode or "failsafe"

Did you hook the tuner up to it and go to pull codes section?

If tis idling wrong it sounds like the TPS is having issues.

I had the same thing happen to me a while back when I was running the stock engine, and xcal2 high performance tune. It went into safe mode and would idle for crap. I pulled the codes and it had a throttle position failure.

No, it just went for the 87 tune to 93. do you think I should go back to stock first. Also I check to see if any codes were in there and nothing showing.

whenever i change a code on my tuner, i usually go back to stock first. it seems to be the better option.....just my .02 cents...

Did it take a little more cranks when you first started the car with the new tune for it to start?

Weird...

I would load the stock tune back in... start it. then load the 93 tune in.

Sometimes the ECU and handhelds have issues with loading the tune if its not the stock calibration your loading over top of.

Do you have anything not counted in by the tuner like CAI or any performance mods?

Just got off the phone (and under the hood) with brenspeed they say that the 05's have a very sensitive monitoring system. So after sending pictures of my air filter and air intake he suggest that I clean the air filter. Also clean the air flow sensor and trottle body. I had my tools in the car so I was able to pull the air intake off and WOW the back half of the trottle body butterfly was really dirty. He thinks that when I clean every thing up the computer will read the airflow properly and smoothe the idle out. So when I get off today I'll take care of that and hopfully all will be well.

Yesterday I was home sick so I had time to take the CAI off and clean everything. went to autozone and got some tb and air flow sensor cleaner. Cleaned up everything according to the directions. even the filter. let everything dry, put it back and took her out for a spin. the idle is now smoothe as a baby's bottom.
