Re: Header install
Gotta make sure I have everything I need and then I'm going to set aside a weekend to do it. I have plenty of space so we can wrench, cookout, play whiffle ball, whatever we want.

So far:
Beer
Jack and jackstands : check
Shorty Wrenches : check
Assorted sockets (deep and regular) : check
Probably need a 3/8 and 1/2 knuckle for removing the midpipe.
Ford gaskets (headers and manifold to midpipe)
Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts (I read this on another forum. Is this right or necessary?)
Should I drain the Oil and remove the oil filter?
Rags/blankets : check
Safety glasses : check
2x4 blocks : check
Keep the advice flowing...thanks!
Put it this way, I had copper gaskets with these exact same bolts you speak of and could not seal the headers. You need to use the Factory studs to really clamp down on the shorties. That will save you fifty bucks right there. THe studs are what is on the car from the factory. Also make sure you have 2 jacks, the big ones, so you can support the motor while the k-member is out. One supports motor while other is to lower k member from car. You also want to get the car high enough so you can slide the k-member out with the shocks still attached.(one less thing to fug with). Also make sure you have some power steering fluid on hand, as we need to disconnect those lines. I keep thinking about what else you need.

So if I am using the factory studs and you recommend new bolts, what kind of bolts should I be getting? Just new OEM replacements from Ford?

Re: Header install
NM...I went back and re-read your first post. I thought you were saying to use the stock studs and NOT bolts b/c I should get new ones but you were actually saying to use the factory studs and not replace those with those stage 8 bolts or whatever.
This doesnt sound all THAT bad...just tedious. If it wasn't supposed to rain all weekend, I might get started since I gots the house to myself. Damn crappy weather!

Re: Header install
I'll definitely give everyone a heads up before I tackle this. I think I'll need plenty of hands...even if those hands are just holding beers and/or performing kegstands!

Re: Header install
Well as soon as work calms down with this working every other weekend BS, I'll get this set up. I'll get a keg of some good beer and some food to throw on the grill. This will probably be around June since my May is pretty much booked every damn weekend.
