supercharger battery box
Hello all,
How do you connect a supercharger battery box cooler to your engine? Its like a coolant tank that you can pack with ice to keep supercharger temps down. Thanks.

Re: supercharger battery box
I saw one last year at MIR but I don't know how to install them. What is the difference than laying a bag of ice on top of it?

Re: supercharger battery box
It goes in the stock spot where the battery goes and you just replace your current intercooler tank with it (ie run the heater hose feed and return lines from your old tank to the new one and ditch the old tank). Should be pretty to install, just make sure you drain your intercooler fluid first. If you need help let me know. Also, you have to relocate your battery to use this particular style intercooler tank if you haven't already done so.

There is one for the GT500 that will work on our cars, rather than replacing the battery it mounts in the stock location, just has a bigger fill opening so you can pack ice.

Re: supercharger battery box
Icing down the intake/blower only cools that and doesn't change the temp of the incoming air at all once the hood is down. A con of the ice bags is that it could result in water pooling up in the engine bay and then dripping down while trying to stage the car...not usually an issue, but could happen... The icebox won't keep the coolant "cool" for too long, but it does make a difference for a pass at the strip or a dyno pull!03silvergt wrote:What is the difference than laying a bag of ice on top of it?

Ice box
That's all, after reading your replies I decided to hold off the process. It really doesn't seem something I really need. Thanks again.
