Latest Interior Mod
It's a very simple one, yet made a huge improvement to the interior look
For quite some time now, I've been trying to eliminate all/most of the bright interior bits. I've been adding a lot of black billet pieces and recently had swapped another Stang owner his black dash vents for my silver ones. Now my latest mod is I painted my steering wheel inserts satin black last night.
Original silver (brushed aluminum look)
The underside showing the clips. (You just gently pull up on the outer edge where it curves over the wheel and they come right off. Install is reverse order.)
I scuffed them up with 150 grit sand paper and then used 0000 steel wool.
WOW...noticed they had a date on the inside of one of the inserts...yet another supporting reason how April is a fitting name
Inserts and primer/paint used.
Primer time (two thin coats).
Satin Black time (also applied two thin coats).
Before
Inserts removed
Inserts installed (you can also see the black dash vents
I am very pleased how they turned out and considering the primer and paint was left over from painting my sub box, this was nearly a free mod! I did have about an hour labor involved between removal, sanding, cleaning, priming, painting and install. The entire process took two hours last night and then I installed them first thing this morning after they sat for about 8 hours drying.

Re: Latest Interior Mod
Very Nice, I did mine in Sonic Blue about 8 months ago, so John, why didn't you just buy the color keyed steering wheel, its only $400
I cant believe people actually buy that thing, when you can do it for around 10 buck's.
Nice job John

Re: Latest Interior Mod
Thanks, guys and gal
This is the only place so far. I'll wait until I get better pics of the finished product before I post elsewhere. It was still misting a bit this morning when I installed them and used my small Sony.
$400??? THAT'S IT?!?!?! I know Nate's and Laura's Stangs had the all black wheel, but what I didn't know until I looked at Sally was that the deluxe interior wheel is one piece and has no removable inserts to paint. Otherwise I would have gone to the dealer and checked on the price of OEM parts.Big Blue wrote:Very Nice, I did mine in Sonic Blue about 8 months ago, so John, why didn't you just buy the color keyed steering wheel, its only $400
