Is anyone ASE certified?

I need an ASE certified to verify my odometer hasnt been tampered with. I know it hasnt but i need a letter from an ASE certified mechanic stating it has not been tampered with along with the mechanics name and contact info. Trying to get a DMV error corrected on my title. Also need a Law Enforcement VIN Inspection if anyone knows how to go about doing that. I called the State Police and no one answered, left a message.

The vin inspect you can go to DMV or what ever you call it over here. Bob I think is ASE cert. Wish I had been able to stay in College. If I had i would be ASE Cert right now.

they specifically said a Law Enforcement VIN inspection. The officer supposedly comes to me and does it. I cant drive the car becaus i dont have tags, hence the reason i need to have this stuff done. DMV screwed up the original title and now i have to have it corrected. such a pain all because some idiot cant input information correctly into a computer

I'm ASE certified, I have never heard of this before. How is one supposed to actually know if it has been tampered w/ w/o dis-assembly?

I have no idea. The lady at DMV said they need a letter from an ASE certified mechanic saying the odometer was inspected and is original and not tampered with. Its New Mexicos dmv, they are the ones who jacked my title up.

I mean, how will they verify the fact that someone is ASE?

i was wondering that too. it had crossed my mind to do up the paper myself, haha. They do require the mechanics contact info. You guys dont have like certification numbers or anything like that?

Sorry man, I just got back in town. I'm not sure if I have an ASE # or not. Never really needed to know that. However, if you can find out exactly what you need, I'll be happy to help you out. The problem I see is I work in Md and if it needs to be on a shop letter head/work order, not sure if they will question that. Find out what you can Nate, specifics, and get back to me.

Maybe it has a VIN code on the back, or something stupid like that. It's pretty hard to change the digital odometer reading, at least rolling it back.

i am calling VA dmv right now, on hold, and calling NM dmv later to find out more specifically what i need. I dont think the state matters because right now the title is a New Mexico title, nothing is tied to VA.

Hey Chris, I am ASE certified but never heard of this either.

I think only a few states do this. Oregon does, So as soon as i get my stang back if i ever do im going to have to go to DMV and have them inspect the vin, Which i think is a total wast of time mainly becouse the car is barely two years old. Ow well, Ill just have to deal with it
