replace your stock thermostat with a 160 degree stat. i did that because it was a pain in the winter taking forever for the car to warm up. you can also if you want advance your ignition i never had mine as high as 16 at the most it ran best at 14. look on your distributor there should be a small plug on it thats the spout you disconnect to change your timing

do not go lower than a 180 stat on foxbody eec iv system to insure system reaches closed loop operation and set timing at 13-15 base with spout out:)

Ive always run 16* with 160* therm. Never had issues. infact Holly and Trickflow systems come with a 160* therm...

To each his own but it worked for me... used the same therm with my 347 build and had zero problems with that either...

thermostat's easy to replace i only replaced mine because i had to. timing is easy if you know what youre doing. you will need a timing light. but if you advance your timing in your car since its pretty much stock motor you'll pick up a few ponies thats all. its an old mod from way back in the day and it costs nothing. next meet or cruise you can have one of us show you how its done on these cars
