Re: headers install help needed
Good advice above...I melted my speedo cable after putting in headers/X-pipe. Also, my Flowmaster Cat backs didn't fit the Pypes X pipe so had to have a little custom exhaust work done. You'll get it done...keep at it!

Re: headers install help needed
Talking to Aaron, it looks like I need a cable, quadrant, and adjuster kit. He said UPR has them, and i Was hoping that one of the reps on the forum here could lead me into the right direction. I will deffinately be calling the shop first thing monday because it was not like this when i drove it there.
Re: headers install help needed
Yes, sounds like that would be a great place to start. Summitt Racing has a nice clutch quadrant too. Hope you get it all worked out...hang in there!

Aaron knows what he's talking about, UPR is a great place for all stang needs. Good luck, hope to hear good news soon!
P.S. (You aren't the first person to get cheated by a shop...)

Hmmm... Idk much about transmissions when it comes to problems/repairing, but i'll give an uneducated guess of, maybe its the synchronizers.
Edit: My dad said it could be the "pilot bushing" goes on the back of the crankshaft and sometimes freezes up.

Mac and BBK dont like each other when it comes to fox body exhaust systems
Great! I hope I don't issues getting my MAC dumps to mate to my BBK o/r H pipe.

Re: headers install help needed
maybe true.... but if your headers are to close to the cable , it could of melted the sheath internally which would cause a bind and cause it to do what it's doing, thus it's not a shops fault and was just a matter of time before such happened, unfortunately /coincidently it could of happened at the shop due to heat soak and the shop is in a no win situation cause no matter what they'll get the bad wrap.......personally, I'd use a steeda quick release quadrant/cable set up, you'll love the feel:)RTW0223 wrote:Talking to Aaron, it looks like I need a cable, quadrant, and adjuster kit. yeah, just was weird.. idk if i should call them or not ?..
and i took the clutch cable off (disconnected it from the clutch quadrant and the trans. looks as if when i push on the clutch (btw my clutch is and has always been very very stiff) it doesnt just pull the clutch cable but the bell housing and the rubber tube. It pulls the bell housing (i think thats what its called) baack and forth WITH the firewall. as in my firewall is now dented, cracked, etc.. My bell housing is not connected to the firewall.

Justin suggested I just bolt up my old MAC mufflers to the longtubes
Re: headers install help needed
my firewall was cracked, I had to weld it up and the stiff pedal I corrected with a steeda quick release set up, worked great at very least call the shop and see if they'll look at it

what kind of money is required to have someone fix the firewall. and can you send me the link for that steeda quick release. whenever i press the clutch i feel like my left leg is getting stronger than my right one hahaha
Re: headers install help needed
Well I had an aluminum like light switach panel in between the firewall and cable adjuster in order to temporarily be able to get my car into gear. But after all, it only cracked my firewall more. So first thing in the morning im taking it to a shop. then once thats all fixed... going to get new cables, quadrants, etc..
Re: headers install help needed
although the quick release isn't listed as a kit, they will put it together as one for the same cost as the normal kits, call them and ask them too, I did http://www.steeda.com/products/drivetrain_quadrants_cables_adjusters.php as for welding up firewall = time and charges, took me about 2 hrs to get mine right, I had the upper intake off for better access and I painted it once I was done.RTW0223 wrote:mjr46 wrote:my firewall was cracked, I had to weld it up and the stiff pedal I corrected with a steeda quick release set up, worked great at very least call the shop and see if they'll look at it

Re: headers install help needed
So i had a shop screw in an 1/8 thick sheet of steel to support the firewall some more. When i took off the quadrant (my first time actually taking it off) it read "Ford Racing" right on it. I was like... hmmm.. so if this is not stock then the guy before me must have done SOMETHING to the clutch or why else would he have only a new quadrant?
