Great Day!!

So I came home for the weekend to pick up my stang and was going to take it back to school. I gave the stang a bath and shined her up. As I went to the gas station today I felt really good and the car was running great. I pulled up to Wawa and began to fill my gas tank. I put 25 dollars in the tank put the nasal back and put the cap on. I then looked down and it was like a water fall of gas coming out of my gas tank. This was the first time I really filled my tank up and was like what the hell...I went inside and told the people at the gas station I was dropping gas. For 10 mins my car poured around 2 gallons out. I took it back to my house and got under the car. I noticed that the leak was coming from a rubber gasket around the pipe where you fill up with gas. So I decided not to bring it back to school and as I was going to put the car in the garage...it died and would not start. So I left my car on the road and took my other car to college. Now could that rubber piece be dry rotted or was that a way of letting me know I put way to much gas in the tank?

looks like your fuel filler neck gasket is finished. my OEM gasket from 93 rotted 3 years ago. noticed it when i upgraded fuel pumps.

it should not leak there when the tank is full, replace the grommet

good now search for your h pipe or whatever mid pipe you want to put on there.

Thanks everyone...i ordered a new grommet and I am going to install it this weekend and the stang will be coming back to college with me
