Re: Top 5 best Ford Engines
plus the 4.0 has around 15 less hp than an early 90's 5.0 the torque was way more though.

Re: Top 5 best Ford Engines
SOHC 427 - The "Only" engine ever banned from NASCAR
Indy Quad Cam
1998+ Cosworth motors (insane)
Hard to pick a "Best" motor out of the bunch without defining some sort of a catagory.
302
351
428
460
Some of the motors from the past should be considered as well
The Flathead was and is an Icon to Ford history. Also the Supercharged v12 found in the Lincoln Zephyr. However the SOHC 427 (nicknamed the Ford Hemi or Cammer) is my alltime favorite motor.
I am slowly learning about Mod motors, and I think they are a great platform. In rebuilding mine, I learned how well these are built, and can take higher cyl compression to detonation. I am sure the Mod motors should be on the list of Great ford motors.

OK, no one mentioned the 300 I6, it sounds like a sowing machine, but it never gives up

Re: Top 5 best Ford Engines
cant leave out the old straight 6's lol
the flat head would most definatly belong in the top 5 with maybe the windsor block family right under it and the mods behind that.
idk if its in the top 5 but ford definatly did have the best straight 6's of the 60's and 70's
