Fairly common upgrade for NA 05+

This setup makes it so you run the same serpentine belt. Ran me over 400 for this set back when I got the car, but never installed them, as I got the turbos...

You can get them now for 200 new from most sites.

Outside of the CAI and tune, there really aren't too many low dollar HP gains to be had... Of course I'm not lumping nitrous into that as you can't legally use it on the street and it will run out depending on how big of a bottle you have and amount of use.

These next items will increase your HP number, not by adding to what you already have, but by freeing up what the OEM parts are robbing you of...
Underdrive pullies
Hi flow cats or offroad midpipe
One piece driveshaft
Tubular K member
Long tube headers and midpipe (used...I got my setup for $600)
Also a dyno tune by a reputable tuner could net you a handful of HP and TQ gain over the mail order tunes as the tune will be tailored to your car and not the run of the mill tune that serves as a good gain over 1000s of similar modded cars. (Years ago, Doug from Bamachips did a dyno tune session in NOVA and was able to gain at least 5-10HP more from a couple of the cars that already had his mail order tune! More importantly, it will get your A/F ratio spot on and that is the key to making your engine live a longer life.)

Maryland 22-404.5 says "power booster" system that is not from the factory is illegal unless traveling to and from the track.

The law is almost totally unenforceable since superchargers and turbochargers are also "power booster" systems.

"any device installed installed in a motor vehicle which allows liquid nitrous oxide to combine with gasoline for the purpose of increasing engine power."

Also changing exhaust from factory is also against the law . Just no one enforces it unless its too loud or doesnt have cats.

Best bang for the buck under 500 is nitrous, which $ is your limiting factor.

These cars run stout, from the factory, and minus the things John stated... fairly expensive to get more power.

Im not a nitrous person but 500 bucks id go that route with 500 dollars

John has hit it on the mark. Cams and intake are under 1000 but remember if you dont install them yourself it is about 1000 alone for the cam install. Not to mention you need a tune. To save money try to get all your parts at once built up so the tune cost is limited. I just did that with my cams, intake, and fuel rails. Wish i would have done all exhaust and this at same time. Tunes are expensive

Don't be afraid to buy used off a forum like S197Forum or from people on here. You can find some fantastic deals. And if you want to buy new, always call a place first as you can almost always get a discount versus the list price on the site.
It is best to think of an ultimate goal and save for that as opposed to buying and changing as money comes along as you'll spend more in the long run.

Tools needed

1/2" breaker bar, to loosen belt tensioner
10mm ratchet for 4 bolts in the waterpump pulley
17 or 18mm cant remember for the crank bolt
harmonic balancer puller
harmonic balancer installation tool. - sometimes you need it other times you can install it with the stock bolt.

Whenever I do these I usually get an ARP crank bolt as the stock is Torque to Yield and while are usually fine to retorque... I dont mess around with rotating assemblies with TTY bolts...
