Tires
So I tried Armor-all wheel and tire cleaner, used a plastic brush with it and the tires look great, just black rubber, no funny orange haze or anything, then you can put your favorite tire dressing on, or just let them alone, I'm not sure if I want to put anything on mine, I like the tire gel but the lot at the marina is gravel, and the dust sticks to it, so i may just leave them like they are, but ether way, this stuff works great.
Re: Tires
Most of the time when I use the Armor All tire gel, I use a rag afterwards and wipe off the excess. It makes for a clean looking tire with no wet look
Dust is never good for good looking tires...

Re: Tires
well this stuff is more for cleaning the tires, after a while they get a funny color to them no mater what you use, and this cleans them real nice, oh and this is used with a hose and water to rinse them off good after the cleaning.
Re: Tires
I work for Doctors Tint & Details, we just spray a specialized acid mixed with degreaser and they always come out like new. I have been amazed the stuff that i've managed to get clean.
In your case i'd have to agree with not applying tire gel or shine, it'd most likely be a waste if you drive on gravel often
