Regrets about Modding
I was cleaning out the glove compartment of my car, my truck and a drawer then I realized holy crap did I have a ton of repair orders, warnings and tickets which I have accumulated since 2007.
I love personalizing my vehicles but do the drawbacks ever get to anyone?
I swear I get pulled over some times just because a cop is jealous or hating. (My brother is a cop and I've got plenty of police friends so I'm not hating on all of them).
I was weighing the pros and cons as I was swapping my stock brake lights to smoked ones on the F-150 so pros definitely won out overall...

I think it's just cops hating (I'm a cop so I can say it). I have been pulled over for moving infractions but nothing for a repair order

I try to keep just close enough to legal so as not to draw too much attention, and I don't seem to get bothered, of course I'm an old fart and maybe that's why they don't bother me, you young bucks are just trouble.
And Mike, that exhaust of yours does kind of draw unwanted attention to you from the nice Police officers.

Re: Regrets about Modding
Last ticket I got was in my now sold '97 GT. Just always have my "radar detector" going--common sense! No speeding around blind curves, watch traffic all around you, etc... All that goes out the window in my RED 2005, but in a darker car I seem pretty immune. Probably just jinxed the #@*! out of my luck though...
Re: Regrets about Modding
I love the mods! I've only gotten one ticket (window tint too dark) and one warning (window tint too dark not even two weeks after getting the ticket for window tint). The ironic thing is that the first time that earned me the ticket was on 95 in bumper to bumper traffic in a light drizzle and the warning was on a bright sunny day Both stops were by a VA state trooper.
Looking back now, the only regrets I have is that I wish I would've thought further into the future and just kept saving up and done some more go mods! Instead, I just waited until I had a spare few hundred bucks and show'd my car to death... Then the bright side of that is that it is sitting at 117K miles and still runs great

Re: Regrets about Modding
I got pulled over a few weeks ago, we had gone up to Taneytown to look at the Boss on the original show day, and as we were heading back out to 15 passed two Troopers sitting, one pulled me for license plate obstruction (which also includes basically anything over the plate, including the frames dealers put on your car). They just gave me a warning and were probably just 'checking' us out. Funny thing as we are sitting there we watch the other trooper pull over a Fox in the middle of a line of cars...profiling maybe?
I do not have any problems with police and my daughter is currently finishing her criminology degree, don't know where she will end up though. Hoping Navy!

I don't have any regrets with moding the car. Only regret is dumping money into my truck that could have been in my car

Re: Regrets about Modding
I have never pulled anyone over for mods to cars. I figure if I am going to do then I cant stop them for it. However If I liked the car I would stop it just to check it out and tell them that. Then you have the idiots who just dont care and act out in front of you. Them I have a problem with. But I would say mod away.
