Will, you are better off borrowing one vs. making one yourself

I've heard people using some garden hose to hold the chain tight.

Re: Looking for Tool 303-1175
Personally, I would make one. Once I saw what it did I ten realized how simple it would be to make on. Just make sure you can stuff it in tightly and it wont come out easily. When you do pull out make sure its stays in one piece.
You can use heater hose that kept long but slit in half with a long 1/4" drive extension. When you remove it you can pull on the hose.
basicly, use long hose...stick it in the tight hole untill it stops...then when ur done, gently pull your long hose till it comes out. Then smile!

Re: Looking for Tool 303-1175
My guess is that a heater hose, or a rubber chunk on the end of a rod would just need to hold the chains against the tensioner? I would think holding the chains upward would also be a good idea...
the tensioner has to release some right? to allow the chain to come off or are you just pulling the cam gear off with the chain attached? and assembling the same?

All the tool does is hold the chain tight to the tensioner. I agree that holding the chain up is a good safe idea. When I did mine even though the tool was in tightly I still never let tension off with my hand. Then I used a bunjee cord to hold it up just to be safe.
