Mason-Dixon Easter Sunday 3/23
Well it's late notice but I'm heading to Mason-Dixon tomorrow to try out my new clutch. I know many folks have Easter family plans and all, but just in case you don't and want to see what you car can do, I'll be there. Gates open at 11am, racing is 12-5.

Re: Mason-Dixon Easter Sunday 3/23
Got 7 runs in over 3 hours, personal bests on ET and mph. Best ET was a 12.7 at 108, and best MPH was a 13.0 at 112. Couldn't hook up all day, although I did get in one 1.67 60 ft. Mostly 1.8s or WORSE on Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what was wrong, although on one run I swear I finally got the driver side tire off the ground--I'm checking with folk there and see if someone got it on film.
A motorcycle blew oil down the entire right lane at the end there, so I headed home. Despite the times, I still think there is a 12.00 car here. Have to try again in a few weeks, as next Saturday looks like a bad weather day...no GOOTC for me if it does rain...

To qualify for the clusters, you need to be 12.99 and faster. That's no problem. But to have a chance of being in one of the final 16 driver clusters they look for (10.00-11.99) I have my work cut out for me. I can drop the suspension weight a bit more, get lighter drag wheels, and perhaps a slightly wider tire on a 15x10" wheel. That MAY get me to 12.00 if I get to the track consistently and practice over and over. Just have to see as I save up, spend and test over the next few months. Low 12s on the stock block with NO power add are pretty rare on the S197s, so I'll be happy if I get there.

Re: Mason-Dixon Easter Sunday 3/23
Even at peak it was a modest number of folks, but the damn track people insisted on the "even, odd" scheme with motorcyles, jr dragsters and chassis certs sprinkled in between--lots of folks getting licensed, only 4 jrs, and 5 cycles, so they didn't eat up all that much time. They kept the pace slow for two hours for some reason, then finally opened it up by lane, so everyone was in staging and you could hot lap. Temp was absolutely perfect, too.

112. et's huh. There's a lot more in that car. Was the track not prepped well. What were your tire pressures? Get any vids? Did Zach go with ya?

Re: Mason-Dixon Easter Sunday 3/23
I went alone, which is hard for keeping track of all the variables. The last 3 runs were at 12psi (down from 14 the earlier part of the day) and well, you can see that's the sweet spot for this tire (MT ET Street Radial 295/45/-17). The 112mph might be an anomaly with the track's electronics, as the 1/8 stats across the board are pretty consistent. Picking up 4-5mph indicates a lot of hp not tapped. Maybe the tune is hosed since putting on the longtubes.
I think the track was prepped well as lots of folks hooked up just fine and there were no squirrelly zones down the track. Thumbs up to MD on that aspect. I think it was part first day jitters, trying to keep track of all the variables from launch to shifts, etc. My guess Bernie is I have 3-5 tenths left before changes are needed to drop some more. Since Saturday at MIR looks hosed I think Zach and I will go to MD on Sunday, and I'll let him drive and I'll video everything and analyze the tapes at night. We'll bring the ET Streets too.
