truck and trailer questions
I just sold my toyota Tundra. I was wondering what size truck I would need to pull my car and a enclosed trailer. What are the recommendations for this. I was thinking I would need at least a F250 am I wrong.

Re: truck and trailer questions
Nah an F150, will do the trick, at minimum I like a 5.4, but the 4.6 will pull it. The ecoboost v6 in the 150 will outpull the 4.6 and 5.4 hands down. It will also beat it in the 1/4.
I am used to my diesel being able to pull anything...

Re: truck and trailer questions
I got my 5.4l F-150 for hauling the race car. Almost snagged a trailer this week but the guy backed out of the sale.

Re: truck and trailer questions
OK guys, really confused. I have been looking at trucks and it seems that I will need a F250 or F350. I am going to be pulling a 24' trailer with my car. Questions:
1) It seems that all are 6.0L diesels? Heard there are issues with these. Any oppinions?
2) What is the least amount of mileage would you buy a diesel with?
I can not afford the new ones at 45K +
I did find a nice King Ranch with 65K but with the 6.0L for 27K? is that high or worth it
Thanks for all the help with this

Re: truck and trailer questions
1) 03, 04 have issues in about 30%, later years not so much. The 06+ with the 6.2 are better. NOTE: the 03/04 issues are when you chip them, or run more boost. Main issues are with oil cooler, and EGR cooler, which can be upgraded like I did. No more issues.
2. Least? or Most? Least 0, Most would be around 200k. Diesels will easily go to 300k and beyond if maintained.
27 is a little high... is it dually? They command a slightly higher price. What year

Re: truck and trailer questions
This was a king ranch truck. I think I am going to go Bobs route and try to find a F150 with the 5.4 or a F250 with same. With reading the diesels are alot more expensive to upkeep. I am not ready for all of that.

Re: truck and trailer questions
Alright Bob, I hope I did a good thing. I picked up a 2006 Ford F150 lariet last night. It has the 5.4L and 3:73 gears. It was actually a treat and a steal. Fully loaded, leather, power everything with rear and sunroof window. Crew cab. Wife loves it. one owner with all service records. Picked it up for a good price with extended 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. thought I did well. Now what do you guys think..... 24' footer will pull easily. It came with a tow package and I found a wire harness with a relay and wires lables trailer on them in the glove box. Is this something that has to be hooked up? Didnt find it until i got home last night

Re: truck and trailer questions
glad you bought a 5.4 f150 i work on 6.0 internationals and other diesels all night. i think itll pull just fine. 2 of my co workers 1 has a 4.6 and the other has a 5.4 and they pull there race cars, horses, cows, hay and one with a boat without any issues. i mean its only a few occasions they do it not every day or week. my buddy has a Ford explorer with a 4.6 and thats his tow vehicle for his 93 mustang he drags all over the place about every other weekend to shows and the dragstrip and he DD it too.

Good buy, and yes, the harness is for the brake controller. Have fun!
