May be joining the S197 crowd
Well, my comp case has been settled and am looking for a newer vehicle. A friend of mine texted me a couple weeks ago about a 2010 GT. I got ahold of her this weekend and it's her brothers car, he bought it new at Bob Bell. 2010 GT Premium, auto, Sterling Grey. 3000 miles (yes you read right).. For an awesome price. He doesn't have time to enjoy it with work and having a boat for a toy now too. Going to check it out Tuesday evening. She talked to him and explained It's gonna be a few weeks til I get my check and he was cool with holding it for me should I decide I want it. I've been looking at Escapes and Mustangs for months now. All of them a couple years old with 25-35k are going for ~$25k or so... He's asking $24k. Any of you S197 folks know of any thing in specific I should be looking for? These things are super duper rocket technology compared to my 93 and SVO.... Yeah, I know the '10 is kinda the red-headed step child with the body change and the last year of the 4.6..... I don't mind the ass end on them in the darker colors though.

you got that right lol
Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
24k just seems a little high to me. I bought my 2011 new at $25k!!!!! It listed for $30k (absolutely no options but has power everything and nice cd/radio for my purposes) and I talked them down $5000!
Frankly, you can find used first gen S197s with low mileage and a lower price. But if the car is calling to you, then make it yours. Whatever the price the experience is worth it sometimes! Good luck.

Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
I agree with John, the price is kinda steep, but if it is a premium model (power leather seats, Sirius radio, shaker 500/1000 stereo...) not a bad price for the low miles.
The 4.6 is a great engine and responds well to modifications, sounds really good with exhaust too!
Good Luck

do it!!!!!!! keep it in the MPSF family!
Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
Well, the price vs. mileage is what has me considering this. Like I said cars with ~25-30k on them are going for the same price (or more) where this one is still "new" practically, Yes it is a premium. I can then do what I want to it within reason for the next couple years as my DD.
Laura, your car is an excellent deal! And well done.

Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
What are you looking for out of a car because modern cars are built to last so don't be concerned with mileage as long as all preventative maintenance is performed.
If you want to keep it stock then fine but there are tons of well done modified Mustangs for sale at awesome prices.

yes thats true... and if you keep up the maintanence as well and take care of her then mileage isnt the first concern really
Re: May be joining the S197 crowd

Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
Picked her up tonight! I'll take pics with her stable mates tomorrow. The 93 spited me Sunday when I was running around getting a few goodies (pair of BNIB RTR wheels off S197 forum, CS/Boss lower valance, BMR strut tower and k member brace off MCM) for the 10 by breaking the dogbone cable (again). I think I set a record replacing it in less than 5 minutes on the side of the road, one handed even! Took longer to find something to wedge under the clutch pedal... I think she knows her days are numbered. But she doesn't know about the 347 or 408 heart transplant my buddy has in store eventually.

I'm at 85k and still truckin', Ed's at over 100K, and lawdy knows that KoolDawg logs them miles.....
But I agree with what's already been posted. You can get brand new for cheaper at a dealer.....
Re: May be joining the S197 crowd
Waiting on the lein release and I can get the tags. Hopefully I will be able to come to Mason Dixon and watch. I figured I'll prolly have the tags on it for a day or so before. Gonna try for a couple pics with the rest of the herd in the next day or 2. As far as a new one at the dealer for 24k? Every one I saw around was at least 35k. Even with the cash in hand I don't see where anybody would have made me that kind of a deal.

You just needed one of us with you, no way I would pay 35K, you can get that 35K car for 26K, you just need to know how to talk to them, I love helping folks buy new cars
