Need help deciding on exhaust Empty Need help deciding on exhaust

Post by nicholasa631 Sat Jun 15, 2013 12:18 am

As the title says I'm trying to debate between a set of axle back exhaust set ups. Both are from Flowmaster the first is the American Thunder and the second is the Outlaw series, I've been listening to clips on youtube and on american muscle but just cant decide between the two. I want a nice deep rumble from the car and I do plan on at the very least putting cams, long tube headers and an H-pipe on as well. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Your biggest concern after the sound will be DRONE, that pain in the butt harmonic that usually kicks in around 58-62mph at steady cruise on the highway.  Flowmasters are notorious for it, although the American Thunder series has a great sound.  Personally I think the Outlaws are too loud for daily use, but that's a personal thing.

Laura and I both have FRPP Stingers, which we believe sound great, but we're also running full length headers and offroad h or x pipes.  If you truly believe you're going with full length exhaust swap, the American Thunders or Stingers will give you a great sound.

Yeah, the drone from the Flowmaster setup does have a crazy drone on the highway, but I'm running 4.10 gears so my rpm's are higher.  I'm kinda thinking about getting the FRPP setup for mine.

Thank you for the in put on this, I was split down the middle with liking the lower sound of the american thunder and then also liking the aggressive sound of the outlaw series but was also worried of them becoming too loud when I continue to do more work on the engine and exhaust

It's an addiction.
By the way, sometimes forums are useful for buying good quality, used parts for cheap.
Also, almost every site has additional discounts if you know the promo code from being on said forums.

I know with american muscle if you have 50 posts on allfordmustangs.com and ask the rep he'll give you a code for 6% off all orders and with them being in PA every order I've placed with them has been second or maybe third day delivery. Not sure if there are any better codes out there but I've been very happy with the service from AM and look forward to placing more orders in the future

Ah that is pretty good, I guess I never buy really expensive parts and so it never occurs to ask or inquire about discounts.
