Just bought! 2004 GT Premium [Competition Orange]

Hey guys!

Hope all is well with the holidays coming up! It feels great to be writing this… I just purchased an ’04 GT Premium. 80k miles, Competition Orange, 5-speed. Everything works great mechanically on it, and I got a great deal on it — dealer had it listed for $10k online and I walked away for $7,500. Not too shabby.

Needs a couple things cosmetically done to it, but other than that I feel it was a great purchase! Very excited to see where the road takes me on this one, and boy does it feel great to be behind the wheel of a ‘stang again! And did you guys see the new ’15 that was debuted today?! I’m definitely a fan.

Anyways, here are some of the things that I plan on fixing…

1. Faded bumpers/spoiler — common issue with competition orange new edge’s. Plan on putting a cobra bumper on the front and repainting the rear.

2. New black vinyl stripes

3. New head unit — common issue with the volume dial being broken

4. Sagging door — new bushings for the pins

5. Driver’s seat — patching a small area of wear on the driver’s seat

Congrats Chris!!!! I love competition orange, I agree with all you want to do to the car and think it will be bada$$ Only thing I would do is lose the stripes.

I looked up pictures of the 12" stripes, naturally thinking they'd be cooler... and they weren't. The 8" ones look pretty good (which are on the car now), but the stripes make it in my opinion. Do you know how hard they are to take off/put on yourself? You guys know how much of a penny pincher I am.

I'm looking for a New Edge (even an SN95 '97-'98) GT (not a convertible) with modest miles in the $8000 or less range.  Found one but not my color (funky dark red with silver stripes. Ich.).  If you know of anything...

Congrats! I have always liked the Orange

Chris you will need a heat gun, plastic razor, and lot of patience. That body style never looked right with stripes imo. mine are coming off too, dont like the look, like I though I would.

I'm worried if I take them off, I'll need to replace them because the paint will be faded and show where the vinyl once was. And honestly, I kinda like the look. Only the 8" stripes though.

Congratulations, Chris!  I agree with James, lose the stripes!

I have some parts left over from my 03. have a covercraft cover and a trick flow plenum and throttle body combo if interested.. congrats . . looks nice
