Long tube headers
I was curious how good or bad pypes long tube headers are and if they are any better then bbk long tube headers. I know that kooks are the best but they also cost an arm and a leg. I'm not sure that WHEN I am ready to go for a set of long tube headers and h-pipes. I want to have a good quality set without going well overboard on price.

Re: Long tube headers
Pypes LT's are pretty much a carbon copy of Kooks so you will get the same performance; however, they are made using lower quality steel. Not bad but not as awesome as Kooks.
I don't have any input in regards to BBK

Re: Long tube headers
Pypes uses more iron content in the steel. Rusts out faster.

Re: Long tube headers
Hmmmmmm maybe not they seemed to have changed it to 304 S.S. as well. I am not sure I believe that though. Anyway if you aren't tracking the car a lot I would think Pypes would be good enough. Kooks are really nice though. How much do you really want to spend?

Re: Long tube headers
Any suggestions for a catted h-pipe? I like the idea of getting the pypes long tube headers however most places I'm looking only have the off road h-pipes. I'm needed to find a fix since my cats have cracked....

Re: Long tube headers
I was also wondering if anyone has used JBA headers or thoughts on the company

Re: Long tube headers
I hate posting so much with one topic before any replies or the like, but I was thinking of either Pypes which I've heard mixed reviews on a lot of great reviews but others not so good on fitment. I was thinking of MAYBE MAC or JBA although not as much as the JBA due to the pipes being a slip on design rather then a bolt together design that Pypes and MAC.

Re: Long tube headers
Did you have to do any special cutting or fabricating to get the JBAs to fit?

Re: Long tube headers
JBAs were installed AFTER a tubular k-member was installed, so any clearance issues were not apparent. That said, a guy I know installed them with his stock suspension and had no clearance or fitment issues. His was a 2005 as well...

Re: Long tube headers
Boss281, I've decided to go with the JBA long tube headers and catted H-pipe, was wondering did you wrap your headers at all or no?

Re: Long tube headers
Not sure your clearance or where your starter is, but I know with foxes its a common issue with LT headers causing overheating issues to the starter. I have never had this problem, though.
Are you installing yourself?

Re: Long tube headers
No, working that detail out. I haven't heard of clearance issues with the JBA's or at least not as much anymore. Reading over Alldata there is a lot to remove and reinstall but it shouldn't be too terribly bad.

Re: Long tube headers
I have an o/r H. I have to swap the cats back on and change the tune to emissions. I have heard its not required but I don't feel like going through the crap if you don't pass.
John on your setup how do you pass emissions?

Re: Long tube headers
Thats what I was thinking would have to be done. As long as my damned P1000 code can go away by friday afternoon I'll have 2 years to get a catted short pipe.
