Re: ** Ride of the Month** ROTM**
Thanks for first ROTM honor. While I've been a gearhead since my early teens and owned/drag raced a few Chevys and Mopars, it was my son's 2004 Mustang that go me on the Ford bandwagon and out of that horrible SUV/minivan toilet--their purpose was long finished. His high school grades were plummetting towards the end of his junior year, so I made him an offer: get on the honor roll your senior year, and you get the car of your choice. He said Mustang, and I was pretty confident I was clean and green. But he pulled it off, each quarter's honor roll making me more and more nervous. And thus, in July 2004, his red Mustang was dropped off as a surprise at his job in a BBQ restuarant. I went through the drivethrough, handed him the keys, and drove his other car home.
When in the dealership negotiating on his vehicle, I saw a prerelease brochure on the upcoming S197. I was instantly drawn to the early style body work which I grew up with, and set out to learn all that I could on it. In January of '05, I happened across one coming off the truck at the Ford dealership in Taneytown, took it for a drive, and bought it.
We took our cars to the Ford Nationals that summer in Carlisle, and it was the Mustang Boss reunion. That really brought me back to the 70s, and I decided to do a tribute to the '69 Boss 302. I enjoyed car shows and cruises, and added the occasional performance mod here and there. It wasn't until last year (2007) I really decided to get serious about drag racing again, although I'd made a few runs on street tires. Zach of course was burning up the track.
So, since 2004, we've got a 2004, the 2005, an '86 for Zach to use at the races, an '87 to replace the '86, a '97 vert to use as my daily driver, and now Zach has an '84 SVO.
Here's a list of everything added to date for the '05, both performance and appearance:
2005 Mustang GT 5-speed, Torch Red

That is sweet, that about the nicest looking one I've seen, I love the BOSS look
Re: ** Ride of the Month** ROTM**
I just got the car back from the shop and while the mechanical carnage is fixed I may need to get some of the black stripes in the rear replaced. Wasn't expecting that but shouldn't be too hard...

Re: ** Ride of the Month** ROTM**
Thanks for all the kudos, folks. I appreciate the interest in my vehicle and the hard work that went into it. I wish I had more time to spend doing Mustang stuff nowadays but work unexpectedly got very busy (which is a good thing) and I've been trying to get time on forums in between things. Right now it looks like I need to back out of the OC trip due to some afternoon committments that came up, but I'll still try to get to the NVMC track rental again in the morning. Maybe late May things will get back to normal...
