Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
2011's will be a lot harder to mod for performance increases. Things like exhaust, intake, etc will have been "enhanced" in the factory, so aftermarket will provide you with lower gains.
If you want to "mod the hell out of your car", then stick with your 07. If you want the latest and greatest (for a year) and are content with not making too many mods early on, go for the 2011. Something to keep in mind though, first years of new engines sometimes reveal crappy problems that you'll have to deal with. Not saying that will be the case but you never know.
If I could afford it, I'd get the 2011. Hell if anyone could afford it, why wouldn't you? I'll be more ready for the 2014 car. The 50th anniversary of the Mustang.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
If you want to "mod", keep and do it to the '07, but as Andrew said, if you want "latest and greatest", get the '11. I saw in a Stang mag that you can get the complete Roush P51 motor (complete forged internal block AND blower) for just under $12 grand!!!!! That is 510 very reliable HP that bolts right in! I guess it's easy for me to come to the conclusion to keep my '06 than go more than halfway backwards in a car payment for about 60 RWHP. I'm down to owing about $11 grand on mine, but blue book trade-in is less than $10 grand due to her history (accident) and HIGH mileage. I'd say keep your current car and mod the hell out of it!
Of course, there's no telling how long of a wait there will be before the dealer markup hangs around before the prices get back down to MSRP and below but I'll also be waiting for the '14s arrival.BlakJak87 wrote:I'll be more ready for the 2014 car. The 50th anniversary of the Mustang.

Hey I say the same thing I want a s197 badly just because of the retro style and I want a eleanor version that I want to build but I will wait for the 2014 also and see how it turns out. If I don't like. I can always get a used one for a great price.

Yeah the 2011 comes faster and the new 5.0 would be cool but they really dont have any more potential than the 05-09

What the hell. Just get which ever one you like the most. And don't listen to the nae sayers who want you to be like them. Plus do you really think the big aftermarket companies are sitting on thier larrels. Hell no. More than likelly there will be a strong aftermarket for these cars. Initially it will come from ford then everyone else. Hey atleast you will be able to say yours is a true 5.0.
Me personally if I could, I would buy one.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
It's not so much what products will become available because we know parts will be made but it's more of what the engine can handle. The internals aren't really any better than the 4.6. I am not telling anyone what to do. For all I care go buy a Kia rio

Kia rio FTMFW!!!
That's why I love this forum. It's just opinions. No one is telling anyone to do anything and make up!

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
I thought about this as well. I just want a mustang I can drive on the street. So instead of paying 34k+ I'm think I'm going to find a nice 03/04 vert to tool around in. Like a few of the other guys said, you can throw forced induction on your car and match up.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
I could care less if my Stang was a "true 5.0" or not. The first V8 Stang wasn't a 5.0. Granted it wasn't long afterwards and continued for about three decades. My 4.6 as it sits now is only about 60 RWHP shy of the "new 5.0" and I have ZERO motor bolt ons! I have full exhaust swap, intake/tune and gears. I do however love the front 3/4 exterior view and love the entire interior, but noway I'm giving up what I have now to spend $600+/month and not afford mods Of course this is all just my opinion and what I would do, but Juan was asking for opinions

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
It really depends on what kind of deal I can get on one. I was going to order CAI and wheels but put that on hold till I decide what to do.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
I'm tempted by the 2011 just because it's the latest technology, though I am not very partial to the '10+ rear end. I also like the new minor features they put into the car that makes it a better DD, BUT monetary wise, it would not be a good decision on my part. I just bought my mustang last July, PIF, so I'll be loosing a load of money, especially after the accident. I still love my pony but I might as well just use the most out of it and when 2014 comes around, look to trade up then.
Like what has been mentioned before, depends on what you want to do with your car and if you got the money to trade up to 2011.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
I'd love a 2011, but I also need to buy a used F-150 to tow my 2005 to the racetrack, as I'm going to end up giving my beat Expedition to my oldest.
If I could I would...like now.

Re: 2011 vs My 2007 mustang
the question you have to answer is.do i want a car payment or do i not want a car payment.i have been doing a little reading on the new 5.0L,302 and it sounds like it is going to be very strong.april issue of hot rod has a 6 page article on it.from what i have read,it will take almost any mod you want to put on it.

If you feel like trading up, then doesn't hurt to look into it. Maybe after you see the actual vehicle, test drive it, etc, you can make your final decision.
