tranny shops
So I am dropping my car at AAMCO monday morning for a free diagnostic of my tranny. as a couple of you know... my clutch takes all my effort to push on it and my gears grind. I figured.. hey its a FREE diagnostic. He said he would inspect everything... let me know whats wrong.. and give me an estimate.
has anyone gotten work done by aamco before?

Re: tranny shops
the problem is not with your tranny , hence what they may inspect won't uncover anything, and the " free diagnostic" will just be a 10-15 min visual inspection, they won't spend hours troubleshooting the prob then tell you only to have the work declined if they did infact find the issue but then again who knows maybe they will spend alot of time on it for free .....you need to have someone who is familiar with your type of car look at it, the problem is in your cable/quadrant set up as long as the pressure plate for the clutch is fine, I can gaurantee you that is where the prob lies, been through this issue many times on my own ride as well as customers rides.....RTW0223 wrote:So I am dropping my car at AAMCO monday morning for a free diagnostic of my tranny. as a couple of you know... my clutch takes all my effort to push on it and my gears grind. Don't let them do any work before you let us know what they say. I'm sure "someone" here will be able to do what is needed correctly w/o emptying your pockets.RTW0223 wrote:yeah we will see what they say tomorrow

Re: tranny shops
i was thinking about getting CJ's king cobra style clutch. its only $154 and it comes with everything. With the set up i plan on having in the near future (full exhaust, gears, U/L intake, MAF, etc) I dont plan to output more than 350 until i am out of college.
Now once i get this shipped to me, is there anyone you guys would recommend to install this? or is it something we can do ourselves?
feel free to call/text me 443 752 2960 with any opinions advice or shop knowledge

Ford Motorsport King Cobra is a great clutch for a stock with mild bolt ons.

Re: tranny shops
why do you need a new clutch??? is it slipping?? only way you'd have a stiff pedal is if the pressure plate were bad and or the throw out bearing is binding on the retainer, I'd ask them how did they arrive at that diagnosis, given all the prob you've had with the quadrant/cable/ FIREWALL , I wouldn't be so sure just yet of the diagnosis
