Out with the old: bye bye '97 GT Vert

Today I sold my '97. Man it was hard to let go. I was contemplating putting $5000 into it to do a PI head/cam/intake update, new suspension, and full exhaust with long tubes. It was a great daily driver, consistently giving me 20mpg in mixed driving. Farewell.

JJ at Woodbine Motorsports ran a 11.12 at 122mph with the following:

Metco LCA's with relocation brackets
UPR Panhard bar
Dynatech LT's
JLT CAI
Boss intake
Slicks and skinnies (Racestar,Hoosier)
One piece alum driveshaft
Mcleod RST clutch

Sounds like a good start!

The '11 will be my daily driver with just a few mods coming like you see above--I need wider wheels and tires too.

I'll push the '05 down to 11.5 in current trim, add ported heads and push down to 11.0, then put in a 5.0 motor and 6spd tranny for runs into the 10s.

Laura and I had fun car shopping, and I'm glad she helped me keep my head on straight and not walk out with a much more expensive GT500. Funny thing is, had she had a checkbook in hand I bet her Jetta would have been replaced by an '11 performance white Mustang that was looking real cherry...
