custom pod project (pic heavy)
Well it was time that i wanted to put some gauges in my car so i could moniter all of the parameters available. I wasnt really happy with the main stream options that were out there and wanted something a little different and more stealth. So this is what i came up with, overall it turned out pretty damn good. I have made a few for people on other forums by request. Just wanted to share my project with you guys, and if anyone is interested in one let me know.

that's pretty cool Zak. Any trouble reading the gauges at that angle?

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
no, its actually pretty close to your line of sight. I mean i wouldnt recommend taking your eyes of the road under WOT at any time. But i angled the gauges on a 15* angle for better visibility and so the DS gauges doesnt block any of the PS gauge.
I might be coming to the april cruise if you want to check it out from the seat.

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
That would be great. I want to eventually put some gauges in as well, but I haven't liked the options that are out there when it comes to placement.
Did you buy all the materials yourself from the local hardware store? Obviously you had to order the gauges.... How much did all the materials run you?

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
That is awesome, Z!!!!! I love the stealth mode and can not stand the pillar mounted gauges!
I now now what project you had in mind when you were asking if anybody had any extra map lights lying around
Any way the pods could be more shallow and possibly angle a few degrees toward the driver? How long does that take to make?

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
I bought the materials at hardware stores and advance auto for mine. But I bought good stuff offline for the customers. All the materials needed to make this would run maybe 100$ but that's because you can't buy small enough quanities to make just one. The resin, glass, filler and putty get expensive. Plus the better materials you use make it easier.
They take me about two weeks to make b/c I work on them on the weekends and a little after work everyday. Plus a lot of the products require a lot of drying time.
If anyone wants one pm me. I have all of the stuff and all I need is the console. People may not like the price but there is over 10 hrs of work on each one.

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
Wow, that's pretty awesome. I'd say I'd want one, but I know that the line of sight would be way too high for me. Guess that's what I get for being such a short sh!t.....
Nice workmanship, Zak.

I got to see it last weekend when Zak fixed my Exhaust leak.
It looks 1000 X better in person.

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
All in preparation for what is to come John. I think it is as well. Zak awesome work. You should make one and see what it would go for on ebay. Can do it with or without gauges. Probably make more without. Good luck

Re: custom pod project (pic heavy)
I have no real plans for April being much more upgraded than now power wise...
..however...she may one day need another stereo related upgrade and may be able to utilize the map light area for such mod... Then I'd know who to talk to
