ok exhaust setup
ive been off and on over the last half year about an exhaust...
ive got it figured out now...
Setup:
Long Tube Headers
Catted X-Pipe
2.5" Pipe to Flowmaster 40's
Turn downs after muffler
I wanna start with mid pipe back and get headers later on...reason i want turn downs is because i like the fact that some tards will think its stock, i like the look of the v6 bumper, and it will be more $$ for a gt bumper...but im also in love with magnaflow 3" chrome tips
give me some feedback on this...

Re: ok exhaust setup
Ok, is your car a v-6 or a GT. The problem w/ turn downs, you may have issues going thru emissions. They will be able to tell the exhaust has been modified. That may or may not be a problem.

Re: ok exhaust setup
IMO, the problem w/ the v-6, (and I'm not trying to be mean) is they sound terrible w/ aftermarket exhaust. I've heard plenty of them too. No matter how hard you try, it just don't rumble like a v-8.
Have you heard any that you like the sound of? In the end, it's your car and only you have to be happy with it.

Re: ok exhaust setup
oh i know...thinking a 6 will rumble like a 8 is like saying a chicken patty could be a t-bone steak if you cook it right...just not gonna happen
but yes ive heard the sound of plenty of setup similiar and im quite happy with it
(dont worry about being mean...sometimes it how things need to be said lol)

Re: ok exhaust setup
My sixer has longtubes, cats, no balance tube, pypes violaters and GT tails
sounds really bichen at an idle but turns to rice-like at say 3k rpm's
some jack azz in a '65 ford truck was revving his motor at me at a light and all I could do is laugh

Re: ok exhaust setup
Just got for the sound you like. I myself like that deep throaty sound from the exhaust. I had it on my vette and I have it on my stang. there is just nothing like rumble sound that's all deep when you hear the car.
g/l on what you choose.

Re: ok exhaust setup
Ya, we cant quite get that V8 rumble, but with the rite set up it can sound pretty good
Re: ok exhaust setup
exactly X-pipe to flows would give me a deep sound but xpipe to slps will give me pure loud lol

Re: ok exhaust setup
i ve got flows on my 6 and they sound decent. got a true duel straight pipe set up from behind the cats. was really loud and sounded like a stock gt when i had them dumped, but i HAD to put tails on to pass the sniffer test. no tails = not full exhaust which= automatic failure. been there done that not as loud with the tails but still nice

Re: ok exhaust setup
personally, I would go with an H-Pipe if you can. Sounds pretty good and it's not ricey at all. The only way it's gonna sound CLOSE to a GT though is if you get some cams.

Re: ok exhaust setup
xpipe is a more even flow...and some argue a better performance add...but the even flow adds to less of a raspy sound

Re: ok exhaust setup
I feel that you do not need an "x" pipe for a V6 . The only reason to run a crossover is to equal out cylinder pressure side to side. Since a V6 has different exhaust dynamics, scavenging is not realized until say over3-4000 rpm. Even though the cylinder dynamics (size and volume) of some of our cars equals the fabled "5-oh" the power pulses occur at different "spacings" around the crank, thus change the frquencies of the exhaust change and make sixers sound like ricers
