TRANNY QUESTION
I've got a pro50 ss in my 04GT. I'm getting alot of "chatter" in 4th & 5th gears, but its intermittent. Ford keeps telling me to put the factory shifter back in it, if I wanted the pos shifter in it, I wouldn't have changed it in the first place. The car has 34,000+ on it. The noice sounds "dry". Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Re: TRANNY QUESTION
Well, you could re-install the stocker and see if it goes away. One way to rule that out. Me personally, never been a fan of the pro 50 shifter. JMO though.

Re: TRANNY QUESTION
How do you have the stops adjusted? Does it touch the stops or do you have it with about 1/8-1/4 " space whe in gear?
Whenever you get rattle it isnt the shifter rattling its something else thats out of balance. Its being transferred to the shifter and hitting something.
If the handle wasnt installed with lock washers and locktite it could have backed out also.
The last thing to check is the plastic isolater cup inside where the shifter ball sits.

Re: TRANNY QUESTION
I was told its the throw out bearing. Besides dropping the tranny, what else is involved in this fix? Is there an upgraded piece I dont know about yet?

Re: TRANNY QUESTION
Paul, I would really put the oe shifter back in to rule out something simple. It's better than throwing the bomb and pulling the tranny for what may end up being a false lead. ALWAYS start w/ the easiest stuff first.

Re: TRANNY QUESTION
Paul, if it's still making noise next time we meet up, take me for a ride so I can listen to it. That would probably be a big help. Def hard to fix noises over the net!PAULSO4GT wrote:Ok per the request of some ppl I put the factory pos shifter back into my car and Im still getting the noise or chatter just not as pronounced as it was.
