Wanna do some work??

I remember a while back that we were talking about getting together and helping each other our on work we need done on our cars. What's up with that? With the weather getting nicer, I think we should do this, whether at a garage or not.

I still need to put in those damn flush mount louvers, and if we can get a lift, Will said he'd help me install gears......

well plan an install day.... i got a stage 2 perf pkg coming this coming week for my car... but i doubt i can wait till an install day

Its definetly easier with a lift, but if needed I can do it on jackstands.

how long of an install is gears will?

I think the times Bernie has gotten his gears done it was a few hours.

yea i would imagine about 1 or 2 hours... who knos will is that man... might take him 15 min

Setting up the gear mesh takes a little while. Also with the 05 two piece driveshaft it makes for a little longer job.

Other than that its

wheels
driveshaft
parking brake on, bust the pinion nut (only if you dont have an impact)
brakes
rear cover
c-clip retaining pin
c-clips
axles
diff main caps
pull the diff
take the ring gear bolts out
deadblow hammer it off
install backwards...

set up the pinion crush sleave(150flbs)
set ringear mesh with master spacer kit
check with grease that proper mesh is achieved.
check with dial indicator

all in all its about 2-3 hour job

Damn...it's Will's step by step catalog on doing gears.

You ever had trouble with gear whine with 4.30s or 4.56s? I've heard this is a manufacturer issue, but I need to tackle 4.30s soon...

I havnt had any issues with Ford Motorsports gears. Other "harder" manufacturers have had issues not only with whine but breakage...

So you're offering to help as you're a master at it now? I heard it takes like 4 hours for the upper control arm

i mean i dont mind lending a hand... and i wouldnt say it takes that long... i think we did the upper and lowers in under that....

Saturday, May 2 there is a car show at Cowles Ford in Woodbridge, VA from 8am-3pm. I know at least Nate and I are going to be there, maybe Zak as well. At 3, Nate and I need to haul ass down 95 to Richmond for the Sprint Cup race at 7:30pm.
I haven't heard anything for Sunday the 3rd...yet.

my driveway is always open. I have room for 3 cars or so, im usually there or in my grage most of the weekend.
