List all Mods that you regret.
My first would be the long tube headers. Car bottoms out over double yellow lines, brings way too much heat into the cabin. Feels like giant lighter is being held to the floor boards and a blow dryer to my thighs. In the summer, even the shift knob heats up to where I have to drive around with a rag to hold it.
Second would be the roll cage. Shouldn't have done it. Looks cool but doesn't allow me to recline back to my instinctive Negro driving posture. (No time for political correctness. I'm from NYC and up there we are still considered Negroes, among other things). How am I suppose to drive my car to it's full potential if I can't have the back of my head resting on the rear deck by the speakers? But according to the rules if you run under 11. something you must have a cage.
Lastly would be that F#$%N Anderson Power Pipe that extends all the way down the wheel well and basically attaches to the valve stem. This makes it impossible to drive in the rain or even wash your car without being worried about destroying the MAF.

Re: List all Mods that you regret.
mine would be those BBK lowering springs i had on my car for several years. car rode like a tank but had a good stance to it. when i did my 5 lug conversion 2 years ago i junked them and put the stock GT springs back on. going to go with some qa1 coilovers before spring. Also my long tube headers at times i regret because it can at times make things more difficult to work around. taking out my bell housing can be tricky and cause a lot of cussing. same with the starter. but i never had an issue with heat but ive heard of a lot of people complaining about that issue

Re: List all Mods that you regret.
you need to wrap the headers in the header wrap. Thatll get rid of the heat and possibly get you some more power. roll cage can be moddified. And no idea what a anderson power pipe is.

the anderson power pipe is just a different type of CAI that mounts the MAF out of the engine compartment and into the fenderwell. It works great and picked up some power. i had one on my fox when it was NA. Now i have a UPR power pipe for my blower but has the same concept

Re: List all Mods that you regret.
mainly from relocating the MAF away from the heat of my engine compartment. It also got rid of that sharp bend that most CAI for foxes had right before the MAF which caused driveability problems. the filter mounts right in front of the MAF in the fenderwell for the Anderson Power Pipes and the UPR units too

Re: List all Mods that you regret.
Header wrap won't do any good if he scrapes now! I HAD wrap on mine, but got so shredded from scrapping, that I just took of the remaining shreds! I've never had a heat issue with the LTs on my car. They were installed this past March, so I've had about 20K miles of warm weather driving with them and the interior felt no different.
I'd say the mod I regret most would be the WMS CAI. Sure it looks different and cool sitting just in front of the TB and intake, but found out afterward that the S197 4.6 wasn't designed to have the straight on airflow into the TB... I'll replace it someday... Sure, I've changed wheels, rear medallions a few times, but I never regretted them.

Sumitomo tires! They look fine but drive/handle like crap. Wish I got something better at the time but the price was hard to pass up when I bought my rims.

Sometimes that dosnt happen the wrap is meant to keep the exoust gases hot to further the Scavenging effect that LTS have to gian more power and that also insures ur cats are kept hot enough as to do there job and not throw any codes for when you gotta re-register ur car.kooldawg6 wrote:Header wrap won't do any good if he scrapes now! Re: List all Mods that you regret.
Cams. While I gained HP (+22) I lost torque (-9) and spent a long season trying to compensate for low end loss and high rpm gains. Never did exceed my personal best, although at year end I think I've got this thing ready for 11s. The stock heads on S197 flow pretty good, and cam grinds are limited due to the variable valve timing. Bottom line, either get cams with limiters or lockouts to allow for an aggressive cam, or better yet, couple the cams with ported heads.

Do you plan on getting your heads CNC'd?Boss281 wrote:Cams. While I gained HP (+22) I lost torque (-9) and spent a long season trying to compensate for low end loss and high rpm gains. Thanks for clearing that up! I was thinking for a moment he was reffering to those pesky cans that used to reside under all stock Mustangs...chrisverneuil wrote:Those stupid furry things that purr and than try to kill you when you try to rub the tummy:)?kooldawg6 wrote:Cats??? Yep! Got a spare set that's going to Fox Lake this spring, and I'll be putting comp 127500 cams in there. Plus 4.30 gears. Plus the front coilover drag setup from BMR. Plus lightweight race seats. 11s easy...

If you get a race seat make sure they are comfortable. Kirkey seats are great for the track but for the street they are rough.

Probably a Corbeau model. They aren't as light as the race seats but definately lighter than the OEM ones...
Re: List all Mods that you regret.
gettin my car painted, it has been a 2 yr long pain im my a$$. car has been together and apart 3 times. I dont care what it looks like any more i just want to drive it.
Paying someone else to put my cage in, worst mistake of my life took 5 mo longer than estimated. was installed incorrectly. My black interior was trashed and my freakin seats were reinstalled with sheet metal screws. I ended up redoing the cage myself and that got me to say hey painting it would be a good idea.

Re: List all Mods that you regret.
Oh wait...
regrets, well I can't say I regret much of anything, because I learned from my mistakes.
This last time was a regret though. I tripple checked everything except for something that I relied on the manufacturer to give em the right info.
If I were to do it again, I would have measured for valve spring coil bind, and I wouldnt have to pull the engine again...
