...also, that's the only way a FWD can do a wheel stand

LOL that has got to be so embarrassing. I'm trying to learn to drive my auto in manual mode and even I know that..

FYI: for the drag strip don't bother. The auto is much better left to shift for itself. You will only ballon your ETs if you try and shift the S197 auto manually. Not to mention you might overrev it also.
It is a great transmission but not a great one for manual manipulation.

just floor it ....... in Drive that is, not Reverse not gonna mention names but someone on here went backwards instead of forwards at the track

I agree on not manualy shifting the stock auto at the track! With a good tune, the shifts come quite firmly! The first few times down the track, I had a huge grin from how hard the car shifted and never had the power drop off between gears! As long as it is computer controlled and you run a good tune, I don't know if many people could shift it manualy and get better results...
Shifting manualy out on the street makes it more fun however. It still amazes me how well mine will pull from a dead stop locked in 3rd gear with the big tires out back
