92' 5.0 engine build COMPLETE! top of pg. 3!
Hey guys, time to rebuild my engine. I know this isn't a big build or anything out of the ordinary for a fox nowadays, but I figured i'd post it because this is my "first" engine build on my car. I have helped my cousin build his last year, but didn't do as much work as this. :us:
My engine was all stock before this build. Only performance mods were a full exhaust and 3:55 gears.
Car/Motor has 66k original miles.
Mods going on:
FRPP B-303 Camshaft (installed)
GT40-P Remanufactured Heads (Should be in next week)
GT40 Upper / Lower Intake (currently being re-done by me)
Edelbrock Performer Double Roller Timing Chain
Smog Pump Delete
(Possibly Ford Racing P headers)
If anyone would like any of the following items, please PM me
Stock 5.0HO upper/lower intake
Stock 5.0HO cam
Stock 5.0HO double roller timing chain
Stock E7 Heads
Please, all comments/ criticism and help appreciated.

Good luck with the build, should run well.
BTW, thats an Explorer intake, not a GT-40.

you'll be happy with the results. looks good thus far!!!!
Re: 92' 5.0 engine build COMPLETE! top of pg. 3!
Haha Brian, yea I realise that now. For some reason I always thought they were the same and thought that the explorer intake was nicknamed gt40 intake because of the heads.. oh well my mistake.
Thanks ryan, i'm pretty confident. This is a mild setup, should only run around high 13s, maybe a little better on a perfect run. But this isn't a weekend drag car, I just like takin it to shows and messin with the occasional street racer.

The port design is the same, but thats about it; by no means are the intakes one in the same.
High 13's? If that bitch doesnt go faster than that, you have something wrong.

Yea I have seen those intakes too, if you search on ebay GT40 intake you will see where I got my ideas, they're all over.
Well I have never ran her at the track, so i'm really unsure of what it can do time wise, but I knew it would definately be in the 13s, and I didn't want to say any faster and make people think I was over confident haha.
Tommorow, I will have some more pics, stay tuned.

Re: 92' 5.0 engine build COMPLETE! top of pg. 3!
yeah that thing should be running 12's with a heads/cam/intake setup, or atleast my buddy's does with just h/c/i, tune, gears. and my car will be all out drag.... eventually... after these college days are done lol

My 88 GT went 12.30's@ 108-109 many years ago with:
GT-40 intake (a real one, lol)
F-303 cam
70mm TB
AFPR
4.10s
O/R H-pipe
Flowmaster catback
Pulleys
March ram air
big and little weld wheels
M/T ET Streets
Tremec TR-3550 trans
1.6 roller rockers
MSD ignition
Stock heads
Stock headers
Stock suspension minus front sway bar
Stock axles
Stock driveshaft
All stock body panels (no fiberglass hood)
Full interior
Daily driven, still speed density, no tuning other than timing and fuel pressure adjustments.

Ryan: All out drag? Will you trailer it?
Idk bout 12s. My cousin has a 90'
BBK CAI
Cobra upper/lower intake
Edelbrock aluminum heads
F-303 Cam
65mm throttle body
1.6 RR
Mac longtube headers
stock gears
His runs mid 12s (12.60s) so I'm not sure if I can run high 12s or low 13s.

Well yea, 2.73's are not exactly built for drag racing. Mine only has 3:55s, which is a pretty significant difference. He has a pair of 4.10s that he's too lazy to install.

Depends, NA, SC, yes you are correct, Turbo loves the 2.73's
He should pick up .5 at minimum with 4.10's most likely a sub 12 pass.

Yea, we'll have to see, it will definately be towards the low 12s. With the 2.73s he just cannot stay in the heavy power range on his F cam, which is 4000 - 6000. Still makes fair power when it dips into 3000 but not enough.

To and from the track, yes-- thats the plan, with the occasional weekend driving around the neighborhood pissing people off

Haha, sounds fun but not my style. I like driving mine 65 miles to shows and back on 1 tank of gas and it being reliable.
Some updated pics.
My timing chain cover, that i repainted ford blue and a sneak preview at my valve covers.

Thats my ideal mustang going fast with less, reliable and daily driven. wow i didnt know it was still a speed density car with that cam. always heard people saying it'll never work cause of no vacuum

Yeah man, it was fun! People at Capitol used to swear i was spraying it, that the heads were worked, etc. This was back in the late 90's early 00's when the F cam first came out...lol. The car idled decently with some fine tuning of the timing and FP, def ran good though, especially considering it had 110,000 miles on it when I bought it and started modding.

Haha nice. i remember when they came out i was in high school starting to mess with these cars. and i used to avoid speed density cars cause i didnt feel like converting it to mass air. wouldnt mind having an 87 or 88 in good shape. did you tune it with your Anderson PMS at the time or was it later?

Nope, the PMS has only been on the LX. I didnt do any computer tuning on the GT, just manual fuel pressure and timing adjustments. Then the GT went carb when it went NMRA P/S racing.
