Rednecks turn left!
So, as promised, the viewing of the Daytona 500 at my place, this Sunday, flag drops at 1 pm . I suppose you all can come by anytime after noon!
This one is special, as it marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of Dale Ernhardt. I believe they are doing a silent 3rd lap!
There's still plenty of beer on the patio , and I'll come up with something creative to feed you animals.... Suggestions are welcome.
PM me if ya wanna come, but don't have the address yet. See ya then!

Re: Rednecks turn left!
Do you want me to make an Indian Curry & Mediterranean Cous Cous?
I can do either of the following:
1. baby spinach & chicken curry - sweet
2. spicy lamb curry (w/ coconut milk) - mild-to-hot
3. beef rogan josh (josh means hot)
Tell me which one and I will bring it along. If y'all like curry that is...

I might be a possible. Depends on if I help Karen's brother cut some broken limbs out of tree in the yard or not...
I was watching that race and was quite saddened for sometime after even though I was never a Sr fan.
As for me, I hope Jr does even worse this year than the years past... Yet another crew chief swap and yet another successful one at that. I don't find Jr at all a talented driver as he struggles to stay in the Top 20. I know he has that Earnhardt name, but please get over that fact and realize he is only sub par when it comes to on track performance... Ok, off my soap box now...

YAAAAAAYYYYYY! Here's to no cutting of limbs....kooldawg6 wrote:I might be a possible. Depends on if I help Karen's brother cut some broken limbs out of tree in the yard or not...
This was sad for all race fans, especially since the advent of the HANS device, which would have saved his life.kooldawg6 wrote:

Re: Rednecks turn left!
If so, I'll see about doing it early and get it out of the way. I'll be near Andrews AFB, so it won't be that far of a hike for me to get to your place!Bethelism wrote:YAAAAAAYYYYYY! It may have, but that is another argument for another day, BUT just like most things...it takes an unfortunate accident for rules and safety regulations to be put in place...
JJ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
GO MARK MARTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (even though you have been in a Chevy a while AND are team mates with those three other clowns... So I guess in a way... I can also root for Hendrick Racing on Sunday along with James and Bethel...

Re: Rednecks turn left!
A tech note that should/could slow down the cars during Sunday's 500...
Since during one of the Shootout practice sessions there was a two car draft that eclipsed 206 MPH and it happened again during the Shootout, NASCAR has implemented a rule that the teams must install a pressure relief valve that starts over heating the cars around 235-240 instead of the typical 275 degrees AND reduce the amount of open grille area the front of the car can also allow to start over heating sooner. This is to reduce the amount of time that cars draft each other at a time. They were saying that there was a two car draft that stayed glued to each other for 14 straight laps! I for one like the result of the cars not being able to play follow the leader the entire time, but damn those last minute rule changes suck! Well, it will put that much more of a demand to stay up near the front of a pack and get cool unobstructed air into the car! This could set a new record by far for lead changes which currently stands at 60 for the Daytona 500.

Re: Rednecks turn left!
The past two seasons, I'd actually wished for Gordon to win and win the championship if that's what it took to stop Johnson...how sad is that??? Esp given the fact that I haven't liked Gordon since before his Cup debut when he shafted Ford after running for them in the Busch Series and switching to Chevy just before his Cup debut at the final race of the '92 season! I wonder how many people knew he drove a Baby Ruth car for Ford???Bethelism wrote:kooldawg6 wrote:

Re: Rednecks turn left!
I was a Dale Jarrett/ Mark Martin fan when I used to get pit passes and seats free. My Brother in law used to own a Mighty auto parts franchise who sponsored/owned the Mighty Auto Parts car.
Have not gone to a race since. The purist in me feels that NASCAR has made the races more about being on rails, then allowing the moonshiners run what you brung, and all out racing. The new restricter plates are even smaller this year, and the cars are all the same. Its gone from banter about what manufacturer is better, to all about the driver.
Weird thing is I watch more Kart series, and Lemans, then I do NASCAR these days... but I still put on the last 5-10 las of the race

I got home today just in time to see the last 15 laps of Dual #2 (listened to the rest on radio driving home) and it was really weird seeing a bunch of 2 car packs... Every once and a while 4-6 cars would group together, but a lap or so later they'd be in pairs again... It reminded me of sulky racing...
One thing I DON'T want to see at the end of Sunday's race...
One thing I'd LOVE to see at any point in Sunday's race...
