Alex, unless you are going forced induction on a 4.0, the long tubes will actually hinder your performance instead of add. best you could do would be shorty headers. Longtubes 381957

James ur wrong........MAHAHAHA long tube headers will hurt HP numbers but Tq will greatly increase in the low end due to scavenging effect. As long as there equal length runner long tubes they will not hurt the 4.0

Chris, Alex is not going to be putting down crazy torque numbers with long tube headers. I know what headers do BTW Longtubes 40335

Do your research Chris before opening your pie hole. How many 4.0's with out F/I run long tubes Chris? There is a reason, and its not because they are a bitch to install or cost. The 4.0 is an even fire engine will not act the same as an odd fire v6

Hey do ur research....Odd fire vs even fire the only diff is exhaust note/drone. Long tube headers have a great effect on low end toraue. Only reason why you dont see many ppl putting them on is becouse most that drive V6 mustangs DO NOT MOD them. So Back on topic old man. Get them Alex!

lot of misinformation in this thread...

good read on shorty vs long tubes.

http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/29618_short_long_tube_headers_test/index.html

All in all properly sized long tubes will make more HP and TQ then a properly sized short tube. No matter if it is NA or FI. However OTHER things will get in the way of exhaust pulse such as cats, and mufflers. So you must make the decision on YOUR setup

Thanks Will that was an interesting article.

My information in regards to performance gains on the 4.0 v6 with long tubes come from people with heavily modded 4.0's that say not much gain if any will come from the long tubes. And those are guys with F/I.

I'm just trying to help a friend save his money and here comes douchie trying to spend it for him.

Alex please take a look at the threads over at mustangcollective.com on the subject. There are lots of people over there that know what they are talking about when it comes to the 4.0, and the site was founded by a 4.0 owner.

I post relative info on things I do know. Shorty vs Long battle. As Will pointed out Long tubes do give you more power and tq. But to get the best of it there are more things to be done. I had shorty headers on my car. And i have long tubes on the Rx7. The difference between the two on the cars was noticable. So to youre coment about me thinking I know everything I do not, But I do know a hell of a lot more than the everage person. http://www.stage3motorsports.com/c=8wUwtp9Cvj2n7PGXCmHuMcMvG/product/KOK-6036MUS6/2005-2010-Mustang-V6-Kooks-1-58-Long-Tube-Headers---Stainless-Steel.html

Chris here is a quote directly from the first link you posted

"You should only install long tube headers on V6 Mustangs that has been modified with performance bolt-ons or a supercharger. Stock V6 Mustangs do not have sufficient air intake to benefit significantly from long tube headers."

Alex, I am only trying to help you. I have done a lot of research on what parts make a noticible difference in overall performance on a 4.0 mustang. And to me spending $600-1000 for 5-10 hp 5-15 tq isn't worth it.

You would get better performance out of gears and t-lok or an 8.8 with gears than you will with the longtube headers. Longtubes 10498

Wow.... so much angry in here!!! LOL

Alex, no point in spending extra $$$ on long tubes unless you're building a race car.... and clearly, that is not the case. Those extra $$$ could buy you other track enhancements like drag radials, gears, higher octane fuel etc....

But what would I know? I do however know this guy that is a professional engineer, has been the head national engineer for a a very large complex auto fleet, solved multi-million dollar engineering tasks for years and often acts dumb and like a noob so as not to attract bad ju ju.... He has even been asked to manage a dragcar outfit on more than one occasion.... I can't tell you his name, but he says, "Consider saving the extra $$$ to go long & put towards other things with a higher performance return..." Sound familiar??? Longtubes 9374
