New tune after longtubes yields big numbers
I put longtubes and an offroad h-pipe on a few weeks back, and noticed the powerband had shifted a bit, and also created a flatspot at the 3/4 shift. But I was too eager to take it to the GOOTC event for racing (where I shaved off another tenth) so I didn't get a new dyno tune until yesterday.
Longtubes on normally aspirated S197s usually yield 10hp or so. My tuner (Woodbine Motorsports in Carroll County) is always researching things, and discovered a few more tricks since I've got a stage III cam installed. I went from 323hp/309trq to 348hp/332trq! The car is amazingly responsive and smooth across the power band. This weekend is a washout it seems, but I'll be at the NVMC track rental on the 19th to see if I can pull some better ETs again.

Re: New tune after longtubes yields big numbers
very nice numbers, What Cams? and what other Mods do you have?
I gained a bit more from by JBA Long tubes than 10hp. and I also picked up almost 4 tenths in in the 1/4. although I am running Dougs (Bamachips Mailorder tune) I also tweek my tune at the track with the SCT unit , I hope to pickup a bit more with the dyno tune in July. I may see you at the NVMC Drag day. have fun...

Comp cams. I think 261 intake, 278 exhaust duration, lift is .490/.480. they used to call them stage III cams but they've re-engineered their mod motor line so I'm not sure of the part number now...
Re: New tune after longtubes yields big numbers
so your just running Cams, Headers and intake? any gears, DS, suff like that.

Did you install your tuner yourself or pay a performance shop

Re: New tune after longtubes yields big numbers
I have a custom dyno tune performed by Woodbine Motorsports, and it's uploaded through an SCT Xcal2. The handheld doesn't allow changes to cam timing or o2 sensor settings, and that has to be done by the shop.

NO!!! Diablosport has more winning cars than SCT. I switched because the number of shops in the Maryland area that will tune your car all prefer SCT, because they treat their tuners well. Plus, Woodbine Motorsports is 10 minutes from my house, and he gave me a good deal for switching! for some reason Diablosport isn't so generous, so all the local tuners concentrate on SCT. I THINK, however, that JPC may still tune using sct and predator, but I'd call first and doublecheck.

Re: New tune after longtubes yields big numbers
OK just found a place in Cali that will sell me the JBA long tube ceramic headers and the H pipe catted shipped to my door for 1150. That is 300 less than JPC for the same parts
