Gauges for my GT?
Hey guys now that the whipple is installed and tuned I need to start figuring out what gauges I want to run and how to install them. Any suggestions would be great! I know I need a wideband A/F setup but I also want a boost and something else. How much would it cost to have these installed since I have never done gauges before? If anyone knows of write ups or some tips it would help greatly. I hope to be at the baysox cruise to finally meet some of you. Thanks!

Re: Gauges for my GT?
I assume JJ put a bung in your exhaust for a wideband sensor when he did the tune??

That I don't know about. He never mentioned it. I haven't been able to get under it to check either.

I know that the H pipe had spots for the old 02 sensors that i installed in place. Do you know if you can Splice the like to tap into those sensors? I did that so all the wires were connected to fill the holes. Then I just had it tuned so they were off.

Re: Gauges for my GT?
I have read that these kits are pretty decent, they give you a number reading instead of just a bar going between lean/rich.

So A/F, boost, and another.... Do you want to keep an eye on fuel pressure?

Yeah I am thinking fuel pressure would probably be the next thing I need to watch.

What size pulley are you running? How much boost?
With a supercharger, a boost gauge is fun but it's not as important in monitoring as it is with a turbo.
I went with Aeroforce Interceptor dual scan digital gauges. They plug right into your OBD-II port and can read everything and anything your car monitors. It's easy, looks good and works well. You can get a boost sending unit or wideband with them if you want.

It's your car and your choice.

I saw an unboxing video of the aeroforce units. The quality seems to be great but I can't find too much information on its wideband capabilities. The car is using 11lbs at the moment.

You can replace one of the O2 sensors that you have turned off with the wide band sensor, as long as it's before the cat.
Re: Gauges for my GT?
Thank you! I think I am starting to figure out how the layout of the gauges works. Now with so many gauges to pick from its gonna be tough. Anyone know how hard it is to run the wires if I pick a center dash mount(Boss 302 kinda style)?

Auto electrical is easy. Don't worry. Once you get started, it will all fall into place.

Re: Gauges for my GT?
The LC-1 From Innovative is a very decent guage. Although Ed has issues with his. Pretty sure it his wires. I Have one in both my cars and zero issues with either. The AEM and Innovatve have newer guages that are pretty decent as well. Boost is nor that important. You want oil pressure, Fuel pressure, Coolant temp and AFR. The stock oil and coolent guages are decent. But something that shows the temp in a digital read out is much better.

Re: Gauges for my GT?
The stock temp gauge is junk, I had a tune issue with my car a while back, and on a cruise with some spirited driving LOL, the Autometer temp gauge was reading the correct temp that was running any ware from 160 deg to 245 deg, guess what the stock gauge read, that's right, straight up normal, I highly suggest a temp and oil gauge, I also put in a volt meter, I like the volt meter because it will not only tell you when something needs to be looked at, but also gives you good idea of what it is you need to look at, amp gauge in my experience has been, well its working, and now its not, no real usable info, JMO.
Re: Gauges for my GT?
OK well looks like am going to need a few more gauges. You have convinced me LOL. Now my original plan was to get an add-a-circuit to the passenger smart junction box but now with so many to run power to what is the best way to do this. Like I said before electrical background with autos isn't anywhere near my mechanical. Whats the best way to tap into a power source? Do i need inline fuses? Thanks guys!
