20" wheels
I have an 07' 4.6L GT. It came with 16" rims that I'm not too fond of. know someone selling 20" Saleen rims with Nitto tires on it with plenty of meat left on them for $1K. I didn't really want 20's, or chrome, BUT since they are for a great price and in excellent conditio I was thinking about gettig them? I know biggerrims put a strain on ur engine. U guys think this is a good/bad idea? No tpms sensors in the Saleen rims either btw.

Re: 20" wheels
My summer tires have 20" rims and I have not had any issues. Don't know how larger tires would strain the engine. Of course don't expect to set any new lows at the drag strip and your gas milage will suffer slightly but not enough to worry about.

Re: 20" wheels
Got u. I'm not a car guru so most of what I know about mods is just from researching. I've heard that the weight of the rims, and the change in gear ratio (or something along those lines) can do some damage to ur trans over time. I could be wrong. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: 20" wheels
I wouldn't worry about damage to the drivetrain with 20"s on your car. That does sound like a good price for some Saleen wheels, should make it look good

Re: 20" wheels
If you have any 07 GT, then the stock wheels should either be 17s or 18s, not 16s. 16s came on the v6 Mustangs. If you are interested, I have a set of 17" factory gunmetal bullitt wheels with 255/45/17 Toyo T1R's sitting in my garage.
20s won't do any major damage do the drivetrain, however, I am not overly a fan of 20" rims on S197 cars. I think they are a little over-sized which is why I went with 19's instead. The only issue with 19's is that there is generally a smally tire selection, but you can still find good tires for a decent price.

Re: 20" wheels
Idk why I said 16's smh but I meant 17's lol. Again, I'm not a fan of the size but for the price I think I might do it. Thanks for the input

Re: 20" wheels
I have 3 sets of wheels. 2 of them are 20". I put the first set on when I had nothing more than an intake and tune. There was no noticeable strain during acceleration but I could tell stopping power was reduced so I upgraded my brake pads and problem solved.
Now, with the supercharger AND lighter wheels. I have zero issues with acceleration. I've also upgraded my clutch/ flywheel but even the stock set-up held true for me with the blower at low boost. I wouldn't worry about the TR-3650. Ford did a great job with it... much better than the new MT-82 but that's a totally different story.

Re: 20" wheels
Good to know... I'm preparing to buy a bike within the next week but after that purchase I want to start upgrading the stand. I'm sure you all will be good resources for me. Thanks again for the feedback

Re: 20" wheels
You will be good with 20s if you get them. Mine are 20x11 in the rear with 315s for tires. I had them before and after the supercharger. No noticeable difference in the cars response either. As said the deceleration on the brakes I could tell changed but wasn't dangerous by any means. I personally shopped around a lot before settling on my purchase. If you lower the car 20s will pretty much fill up that wheel to fender gap perfectly. If I had to do it over again I would still pick 20s. just some thoughts.

Re: 20" wheels
Put 3.73 or 4.10 gear's in and you won't notice anything, I have 20's and haven't had any issues other than a harsher ride.

Re: 20" wheels
It's all about personal preference. You're going to get different answers from everyone on here. Go with what you like. You don't like 20's, don't spend your money just because it's a great deal. You can find awesome wheels and tires, in what you like, for a great deal elsewhere. Just be patient.
Re: 20" wheels
I agree with several of the views pointed out so far. 20's won't be enough to do any damage on the drivetrain. It could wear out your brakes faster than normal, but brake pads are relatively cheap to swap out for better ones! I also agree with Bethel about not settling on 20s if you don't really like 20s just because they're a good deal. Better to save up some money and go for the ones you know you'd want. It's not easy to finally agree with a set of wheels as others know... Including my stockers, I'm now on set #4...

Re: 20" wheels
Got to agree with Bethel and John dont get them if you really dont like them. Because you will end up buying something else later. Check American Muscle or tire rack for about 1200-2000 you can get exactly what you want. You might pay a little more but you will have exactly what you want.
