Used Wheels. New Problems.
Some time last week, on a random craigslist search, i found some rims for sale that I liked (pictured below). After some negotiationg (tpms sensors don't workl for an 07'), the price dropped from 800 to $530. They came with pirelli tired on them from the factory with about 90% tread left. I put them on my mustang and now any time I go over 60 mph, I feel a vibration. I checked the air in the tires. The guy I bought them from said that he got them for free from somone who put after market wheels on his mustang after about 3500 miles. Since they are factory, I don't expect for there to be issues with the balancing of the tire, and since they are fairly new (no visible damage), I don't expectthe rims to be bent at all. I could be wrong. What steps should I take to resolve this issue?

Re: Used Wheels. New Problems.
What you should do first is look in the door jamb at the recommended tire pressure, it is usually between 30-35 psi. Set all 4 tires to that pressure. However, that won't fix your problem.
A vibration between 60-70mph is a tire out of balance (90% of the time). Have all 4 tires balanced, it should cost about $10 for each tire. This should be the first thing you do as it is the most cost effective and will most likely fix your problem. Anything can happen to tires; a weight can fall off, the difference in seasons, I have even seen cars with a few hundred miles have a tire balance problem. That's just where I would start if it were mine.
Good luck!

Yeah get Bob to do them! I had that happen once before. It felt like I was driving slow on a rumble strip!

You prolly need to have the new sensors synced to your car.NuJersey wrote:svtwin73 wrote:Who needs tire sensors?!?! They make gauges for checking tires, get em balanced or maybe road force balanced.

Dealer can! You may want to check with a reputable local tire shop too, they should have the scanners to do it.
