New Truck Suggestions
I plan to buy a new truck sometime in the fall.
My eyes are leaning towards a Super Duty; however, I never tow anything and they don't have the back-up cameras like the 09+ 150's do.
This will be my daily driver so I want it nice enough to enjoy driving but I refuse to pay $60,000 for a 2012 F250 King Ranch or anything like that.
Ideally, I'd like 4WD, SuperCrew or SuperCab, 6.5 ft bed, moon roof and back up camera
Any input?

Re: New Truck Suggestions
You can get the F-150 with the heavy rear springs towing package with B-U camera and sync. The 5.0 is a good and proven motor and the 3.5 twin turbo has good mileage numbers if you drive @55 and that isn't really accurate. Also the computer opens more power up after a certain number of miles and I believe it is fully available after 3-5K miles.
And another thing right now you could get a truck for up to 10K off the sticker price and with the dealers in your area I am sure you could get one of your choice.
On a personal note I am not a fan of that fugazi chrome sticker stuff on the grill area because in the oil fields I've seen that stuff get ate up. I have a 02 sport and my bumper and grill are painted.
How long would you keep this truck? If you are like me I keep them a long time and I wish I had under-coated it because the salt trashes the uncarriage.
Lastly I believe all these trucks all have a lot in common but for me I am straight up Ford all the way for what it is worth.

Re: New Truck Suggestions
I just picked up a red 2012 F-150 FX4 crew cab. Listed for $43k, took $6k off the top, added cash and my 2008 as trade in to get payments down. 9000lb tow capacity, loaded interior, 5.0l engine, space out the ying yang. I like my trucks and ignore the shitty mileage. Didn't come with a back up camera but I'll add that later.
Re: New Truck Suggestions
There is one thing I didn't mention regarding the benifits of either the 6.7 liter diesel or CNG. I would go for either and the LNG option is the same as the diesel option in a F-250. I would much rather have the Cummins but I won't own a Dodge. If you know diesel's then 6-71 should be common....But back to CNG, it is cheaper per gallon than petrol but in the Maryland, DC, Virginia there aren't many CNG stations available to make it pay for itself. http://www.cnglocator.net/CNGLocationsbyState/MarylandCNGStations.html Although if you live in these areas then it could be a good deal. Anyways I know you'll find the right truck for your needs, I like my room and I do care about mileage per gallon because 25-35 gallon tank sucks to fill up everyweek although that is my wee opinion.

Re: New Truck Suggestions
John, since you have a loaded interior, does that mean you have moon roof, power sliding rear window, heated leather seats, and SYNC? Is the only thing missing the back up camera?
That seems like a good price but I want to know what exactly you have and where you bought it from.
Also, which size bed does your truck have?

Re: New Truck Suggestions
I guess we have slightly different definitions for loaded: I have the sliding rear glass, but cloth seats and no moon roof. This is the one I bought, look at the window sticker: http://crouseford.com/Westminster/For-Sale/New/Ford/F-150/2012-FX4-Red-Truck/13459400/
Re: New Truck Suggestions
Nice, I like the painted bumper and the black grill and running boards.
Are you willing to look out of state? could yield a better final price.

John, thanks for sharing that link. How was the selection at that dealership?
I am definitely open to looking out of state if it is optioned the way I want it.

Re: New Truck Suggestions
Mike, put it this way: 90% trucks, the rest small sedans (1 V6 Mustang). Carroll County is all about trucks. Find Ron Brown and mention my name. I've bought 4 vehicles from him at this dealership...big selection, their inventory is online at www.crousefords.com .

Here's the truck just before I pulled it off the lot Saturday morning...

Re: New Truck Suggestions
Shining like a diamond in a goats ass! I really like the way the rims have a nice sheen. Does yours have the shifter in the console or column? For me the center console shifter is a lot of lost real estate in the center area. Again your truck is really nice lookingBoss281 wrote:Here's the truck just before I pulled it off the lot Saturday morning...

Re: New Truck Suggestions
I had an 07 2wd F150 Supercab that I traded for a 2011 F-250 Crew Cab PSD FX4. The 6.7L Powerstroke was a beast and I loved driving the truck. It had everything in it but the moonroof; towing with it was awesome as well. Unfortunately, I do a lot of commuting & highway miles for work, so the cost for the truck coupled with the cost of oil changes and DEF, I made the economic sacrifice and traded her back in March. When I bought it, with rebates and all, I paid $46K for a $56K truck.
Here comes the part that I will likely receive backlash for: I traded the SD for a 2012 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Z71. Because it was just as much a money issue as anything else, I wanted to get the best truck for the money and MPG's were a concern, yet I still need something that could tow 6 to 7,000lbs. I test drove the EcoBoost F150, a 5.0 F150, Nissan Titan, the Silverado and a Toyota Tundra. Of all of them, the bect combo of utility and cost was the Silverado. And I actually enjoyed driving the Silverado more than the F150's. I didn't like driving the Ecoboost F150 at all and the 5.0 F150 always felt underwhelming to me. While I will always be a Ford guy, I thought the 2012 Silverado was a better truck than the 2012 F150 for the money. I paid $37K for the Silverado with 0% interest for 72 months.

I finally found one built up the way I want it but it is down here in TX. I think I may have a 1468 mile drive ahead of me if Ashley will allow it.

Re: New Truck Suggestions
So I am in New Orleans and LaMarque Ford has the one I want.
They already ran my credit and I was sitting down with the woman in the financing department when one of the other employees came up to regretfully tell me that the service technician scraped the truck along the side of the building when they were bringing it around for the standard "Make Ready".
MSRP on the truck was $48,995
My total out the door price with taxes tags license, etc was going to be $43,315
Input?

Re: New Truck Suggestions
I would tell them to klnock off 5 grand at least... you are purchasing a wrecked truck... and you will lose more than 5k just in truck worth, if they are honest and report it...
My guess is that they wont and if you dont buy it they will not tell the next person buying the truck... unless you report an accident to carfax...

38,500 if it is a '12! Either that or make a better deal on a different truck of your liking, Don't let those koonasses jack you around cuz they think you are a Yankee and you ain't being from Maryland.
good luck and have a safe trip back and watch for the man in Virginia.

Re: New Truck Suggestions
Would you be taking the truck as is, or will they have it repaired? If they offer to have it repaired or do it themselves, walk away. Trust me, you're much better off having the truck repaired by a shop that has a good reputation.
