Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
Sup guys,
Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm bored at work, lol so I thought I would get some advice or opinions. This has been on my mind for a few weeks now. Been thinking about selling or trading in the 06 GT and getting a newer Mustang. Haven't visited a dealership yet but I've been lurking online looking at listings for a 2010 or 2011 V6 or GT everyday.
The 06 GT is driving great, small things here and there annoy me but its getting up there in mileage (131k). Blue book is about $9K Private, 7.2K Trade-in if I took it back to stock. Still owe a little under $6k on it so there wouldn't be any negative equity.
A few questions.... V6 or GT??
Have the 2010+ owners or anyone else test driven both models?
Would it be hard to sell the 06 privately? (after cleaning it up a little, of course)

No to the v6, maybe to another GT, Hell yeah to the 5.0. This is the time to make a move, when the 15's hit the dealerships they may not give you 6k on a trade.

Yea I know, I may regret getting a v6 in the future. Really only want a GT or 5,0. Only reason I considered the v6 is a little better gas mileage since I commute/drive more. And with a tune and a few upgrades, hp and torque would be comparable, if not better, to my gt now. End of the day... Still a v6 tho

Yeah seriously I have driven the 6 stock and heavily modified. I don't care what anyone says or how much power it has you can feel the difference with the V8. Its never the same. You could get a GT and then grab a super small 4 banger for cheap on CL later.

I've actually rented the v6 a few times in Florida, no trill at all. But that's good to know that heavily modified it still feels like a v6. Guess I need to stop reading reviews on American muscle, where every mod is "5 stars awesome" lol

Remember that if you take the sources then you can scratch opinions for what they are. I think we want to believe and for me if I had that opportunity I'd have to have the coyote hands down although it would not be my commuter either.

Take my word for it. Drive the 5.0, and you'll never go back.
Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have the money in place, now just gotta figure out what to do with the 06'. Gonna see how much I can get for it as a trade in.
I'm gonna go for the 5.0
I saw a few over the weekend, can't see myself in anything else honestly if i'm gonna spend the money. Will keep you guys updated.

Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
I've been quite happy with my 02 V6, (until this past year) . When I got it I went for the 6 cylin for a few reasons, gas , insurance and it had to "Wife Friendly" ie. auto w not too much power. It may take a little longer to clear 120 but it's been there quite a few times. Now that she is cruising in an 04 Bonneville SSEI with a supercharger, I am feeling slightly.....inadequate...in the power department....so that being said If Bob can not find out what the issues are with the car...a V8 will be in my driveway eventually.

Wow almost like a Viagra plug...... Joking with you. If I were to buy new I'd have to have a V-8 as it is a legend and Iknow I wouldn't use it everyday. The insurance deal is another issue and so keeping my fox allows me the power and cheap insurance.

Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
The insurance shouldn't be an issue for Damien, probably only a couple bucks different.
The 2010 has the 210 hp 4.0 v6 and is slow compared to your current car
The engine change happened with the 2011 with the 305 hp 3.7 v6.
Trust me you would be taking a step backwards with the V6, besides it will never sound like a V8, and the performance difference of the 5.0 over your car is night and day. I have driven the 3.7 and it is a turd and to be honest the fuel efficiency isn't too much better then 5.0
I average 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway when I behave myself

Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
Yea I'm definitely gonna try for the 5.0. Insurance wasn't that much more on the quotes, like 20 more a month.
I've been seeing some odd combos tho, making it hard to choose. Like I saw a few with all the bells and whistles but with cloth seats. Saw another beautiful red 5.0 but the seats were red and cream leather, lol. I almost got but I couldn't get past those seats. I would have to cover them.
Saw a few out of state, any body have experience buying out of state, like NY or NC?

Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
Hope you guys had a good weekend. I ended up getting the Red one. It's a 2013 5.0, 18k miles. Traded in the 06, pretty good deal on it. It came with the flowmaster hush power axle back exhaust, that was a plus. They sound really good.
I did get to drive up to York today to visit family, got a chance to let loose. So much fun. That 5.0 is a beast. Will post some pics tomorrow.

Re: Thinking about selling the 06'...Maybe get a 2010+ V6 or GT
Thanks guys.
Just a few pics, forgot to post them last week. I'm pretty sure I will swap the seats for black leather before the year is out. Also have a set of black 18x9/10 rims i'm gonna put on there when I get tires. Other than that its blast to drive and the TrackApps are fun to use, too.
