Re: Does anyone race a Capitol
I have run at Capitol a lot. TNT's bring 1000+ cars and make it almost impossible to run. The track is sub par as far as prep, and is bumpy past the 600' mark.
Some people hate the track but I still will run there. Of course with the new power I might be skurred as well..

I only go to Mason Dixon...then again, I've only been once I don't mind trying out other places but I only hear bad things about TNT nights. NVMC has a handful of private rentals at Mason Dixon that allow you to run all you want for 4 hours.

Re: Does anyone race a Capitol
I've been to Capitol about 5 times. Only other place I have run at is Atco in NJ. I just use Capitol as it is the closest place.
Friday night Test & Tunes do get insanely busy but get there early (gate opens at 4:30 and runs start at 5:00) and you cn get half a dozen runs in before it gets packed and starts slowing down. Even when it gets busy, I don't mind as it gives the engine time to cool between runs.
Guess it is all how you look at it.

Grew up racing at Capitol in the 70s.
05RedDevil's right. Get there when the gates open Friday afternoon, get your first runs in, then get ready to deal with the crowd and maybe one run an hour--I've waited longer. Track prep varies. Not my favorite track. Cecil County Dragway test and tune is similar. Nowadays I prefer Mason Dixon given the distance or MIR if I want great track prep. 75/80 reopened a few weeks back, but that was a marginal track back in the day, and is likely not much improved. Need to drop by there though to check it out...

Mason, that's about it. The track seems very consistant and organized compared to Crapitol and 75 and dirty. MIR is a nice track but too far to drive as well as Cecil for me.

Yeah, I get there when the gates open and leave around 8.
