Need some mustang info 2005-08
Hey guys, so I'm still recovering from the accident. I'm doing well, walking around, trying to eat a little more, healing good. Probally the most challenging thing has been the mental aspect, not being able to do much, having to sit at home, and just still some bad thoughts and nightmares but i'm doing good. Thank you all for your support. Anyways so today my aunt and uncle came down to visit me from upstate NY, they brought there 2007 Stang GT Vert. So I went out and checked it out, and then I sat in it... . Its nice, alot more room than my 5.0 vert was and air bags, front and side, so the saftey is there. So I'm looking for some info on these GT's, how are they? Reliable? Safety? Overall? Mods? How hard is it to make a 12sec car? Something that will hang with the cars we don't like(GM). After those mods is it still reliable? DD? Thanks for the info guys, really considering looking into it. Before this I was looking at going to an Evo 8.Thanks Guys

Glad you're getting better! The '05-'09 Stangs ARE nice, BUT if you don't mind the looks of the back end of the new one and can afford one, I'd go for the '10+!!!!! Lots of revisions for the better (minus the tail)!
Getting one of these into the 12s isn't too difficult, but greatly depends on the weather and track prep! There are several of us that can flirt with the 12s with "few" mods, but it takes weather and track prep to complete the deal. Laura (croft) has been in the 12s, John (boss281) is running low 12s and I've even run 12.9 twice (seats removed).

Re: Need some mustang info 2005-08
I love my 2005. It runs 12.19 and still runs nice on the road. Laura's car is a 2007 and runs high 12s with just a few mods. The S197 platform gets EXCELLENT safety ratings, by the way.
As much as I love the 2005-2009/2010, the suggestion for a 2011 S197 with the 5.0l engine is a valid one, if you can afford a new car. They run mid 12s off the dealership floor and are powerful, fuel efficient and safe.
Keep your Fox body 5.0 for a rebuild, and find yourself either a clean used S197, or save up for the 2011. You can't go wrong.
Glad you are on the road to recovery, and hope to see you soon at one of the events...

Re: Need some mustang info 2005-08
Good Morning Patrick,
Glad to hear that you are getting around. I and the wife and understand what you are going through. Her car looked no where near as bad as yours from the Dodge ram hitting her del sol in the rear. She has been out of work for a year and is going through the same thing. She hates the four walls. The biggest thing that has helped her is keeping her chin up and constantly pushing to a recovery. Dont give up!!
I have had several Fox body's and must say that the S197 has been my best choice. I think they handle so much better and with a few mods they will really get up and go. Not to mention there is enough knowledge with everyone here to save on the install prices. I would say go for it if you like them. You are the final decision you must like it.
The 2011 is by far the way to go if you can afford it. Like John said all but the dag on rear, however I have seen one with a body kit that made it look awesome. Now you like stereos if I am not mistaking as well the center stereo area is not the most presentable for aftermarket on the "11" from what I have seen. However good luck with your decision

Glad to hear you doing better. It will all depend on which way will be easier for you. You can get 2005 and up starting at about !5000.00 stock running high 13s to low 14s and mod it to get to 12s. Or you can buy 2011 starting at 30000.00 plus and be in 12s. If you are end to modding I say get 2005 to 2010. If not say get 2011 and factory waranty and have fun.
