Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
anyone able to get into Facebook or the Northern Virginia Mustang Club's forum since last night? I get a redirect to forumotion.com ....
Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
I can get to both,
Better check for malware or check your host file.

I'm scanning one machine now, but I can't get to it from any machine connected through my router.

Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
Actually, only my LAPTOPS are affected. My one wired machine on the ethernet cable works fine. it's pointing to Malware right now, so I'm running all 3 programs. So far it's only when I try to go to facebook or the NVMC web site. nothing else. it's point to a redirecting malware, but so far nothing is coming up. Thanks for the feedback james, wish it wasn't so damn hot I'd race tonight!
Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
if it is malware or similar, check the hosts file like was said and check your IE settings to see if whatever it was set you up on a proxy server. Have you tried another browser?

Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
nailed it, little fucker. not sure how it snuck in but MalwareBytes caught it. All is well. Once I started getting redirects across multiple sites, I knew I had something...

If you ever get one that won't allow MalwareBytes to run download a program called rkill. It will stop all the malware/spyware services on your computer so you can clean them off. You may have to run it from safe mode but it will work.

Thanks, bookmarked. I use adaware, spybot and malwarebytes, along with McAfee. I'll add that to my toolset...

Same hear, but if malwarbytes can install or run or any other scanners, I start going though the registry or reimage. Rkill should save some time.

I got both Win 7s,
I should try building a linux server one day. I've never messed with linux.
I want to test 2008 at home before upgrading one of my clients.

Yep, it'll save lots of rebuild and repair time. I haven't had one yet that I had to rebuild. I have had to wait for the Malware Bytes signature to get an update to kill some of the malware. If thats the case I just run rkill after the user logs in and they are usually set for the day. Once the signature updates I can get rid of it for good.

Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
I'm an IT tech and I use Ubuntu on all my home stuff, I love being able to go anywhere I like with out getting hit buy Spy Ware or Viruses, of course if your a gamer, it mite not work that well for you, but that's not my thing.
If you haven't tried Super Anti Spyware, you mite want to, I've had awesome luck with it, we have a couple of Windows machines down at the Tattoo shop, and I try to get them to go to the Ubuntu box's when there searching for stuff, but every now and then, they happen to be setting at the Window's box so they use it and infect it, I have to clean it like once month, but the SAS dose a great job of it, of course I haven't had to do anything to the Ubuntu box's.LOL

Re: Facebook, NVMC down? redirects to forumotion.com
Run Ubuntu as a VM on those boxes.
I think I may setup a linux box for one of the hotels I deal with. And have them do there searching from that box. Even though they probably won't. Users never listen!!!!

I run Windows as a VM on my Ubuntu's, that's just the way I like to do it, if the windows gets fried, I replace the folder and keep on getting up, LOL
I named the VM "Pain in the Ass Windows" and this is my desktop for the VM
