Big Blue wrote:Like Chris said, the car inst going to ride smooth, it designed to have a sports car ride, but at any rate, a strut tower brace will make the front struts do there job better and take out some of the bend in the front end, also the Panhard brace on the rear on the S197 is made out of nothing but stamped metal, you can buy a better one or Bob Thompson can reinforce the one you have for a lot less money, we experimented on his mine and another one, and it worked out great, I have a slightly used GT500 suspension under mine, and i love it, there are far better after market struts and shocks then the GT 500, but I got it for a good deal and it only had like 12'000 miles on it, and mine had 100'000 miles on it, and was ready for new struts and shocks any way, and then I added the Steeda strut tower brace, the one of of the GT 500 wouldn't work on the V6, and the Steeda one was a much better brace as well.
And you have a V6 correct? there is only a few mufflers that sound good on them, the GT take off, but there quiet, the MAC like I have, that sounds great, and in the middle for loudness, they do drone in the car but I hear installing the Dynamat helps deaden that droning, and your all ready doing that any way, and there is another one, but I cant think of the brand rite now that sounds good on the 4.0 and its much louder, so it all depends on the sound your looking for.

Re: New to US and MPSF
Thanks for all the tips! It's all good stuff. Really. Please keep 'em coming as I have never had a Mustang before and we don't have many in Australia.
I just placed an order for a Cold Air Induction kit with SCT tuner. Woohoo... my 1st little mod is on the way!
Please excuse my ignorance, but who is Bob Thompson?
I really want to get my suspension & front end looked at ASAP, so where do I go? I'm willing to go anywhere from Baltimore to DC for someone decent.
Thanks
Pete

Re: New to US and MPSF
Pete, Bob is a great guy and is the only person I would ever allow to put his hands on my baby! I'm sure many others here will agree. He lives in Westminster MD, if you go to the thread about pimping the van for the little girl he is the person hosting the event. You should try to come to the event at his house.

Why didn't someone just tell me??? Sorry Bob! A few cryptic clues later, and well.... I'm sure everyone is having a good laugh at/with me by now.
A fine Rookie error there, but hey, I'm a freakin' alien remember?

Awsome. The JLT is sweet. Ed will say otherwise but Eds been having more problems than just the JLT intake.

Re: New to US and MPSF
Update: I have the JLT CAI and SCT Tuner... all done! Arrived this afternoon, so it went straight on!
Took Black Betty for a spin and the throttle response is soooooo much better. It feels a little punchier right though the rev range.
Amazing what a tune and breath of fresh air can do!

I've got a stock GT suspension (struts, springs and shocks) sitting in my garage, I'm not sure if it's any differant than the V6.

Re: New to US and MPSF
It was great to meet Ed, James & Chris at Bob's on the weekend.
Had a good time and looking forward to meeting a few more of ya'll (<-- sorry I just had to LOL) in the near future.
At least now I can recognize the difference between a Grand Pooba and an El Presidente
