Asking a favor for a friend
A friend of mine is a horse back rider {the 4 legged kind not wheels} and they are trying to save a riding area that they have been taking care of for years now that they are in fear of loosing, what I;m asking is you all got to the web site and sign their petition to try and save this area for them, below is the email she sent me, thanks Eddie {Big Blue}

Many of you, like myself, are continually looking for family adventures and ways to escape the concrete jungle. A lot of people, from various parts of Maryland, Delaware and PA, come to Maryland's Rocky Gorge Reservoir to enjoy boating, hiking, jogging, biking, fishing and horseback riding. WSSC is now making unfounded claims to prevent the use of horseback trails and plans to eventually limit public access to the park completely. The interesting thing about this is that, before coming under new management, the equine community was praised for their service to the land and trails as we were the ones cleaning trash, clearing trails, replacing trash bags along the trails, being ever vigilant and taking care of the property. If ever you enjoy the trails you will see a sign from WSSC honoring TROT (trail riders of today) member Terry Ledley for her long time dedication to the beautification of the trails- she's been caring for these trails since before I was born providing more than 30 years of volunteer service and even training her various canine companions to pick up trash along the trails and bring it back to her- I'm still working on asking my dog to sit.
We are in imminent danger of losing these trails for horseback riding and eventually we will all suffer the loss of these trails so that my four year old son can't walk down to the lake with me and watch for Bald Eagles.
Here's the problem: WSSC is making unfounded claims that the equine presence on the trails is harmful to the environment thereof. The petition is to give us a voice as we strive to have independent testing from EA Engineering http://eaest.com/ to debunk the claims made. We've partnered with NOAA as well and have used their data to also debunk these claims against the horseback members.
IF the data shows evidence that our presence is harming the watershed then we, the equine community, will no longer fight to ride there as we deeply respect the environment. We will, however, continue to fight for public access on these all to rare, beautiful and precious acres. IF the data successfully debunks the claims from WSSC then we have to fight for the right to present our data to WSSC and the signatures on the petition help us achieve that goal. Petitions carry tremendous weight to our voices and help keep the corporate dogs from pushing us around.
I pay my annual fee, even before I rode on these trails, of $65 a year and buy $5 guest passes for any of my guests, as do all riders I know- We're not asking for something free, we're asking that we maintain the things that we've always had and take care of! I always carry clippers and trash bags when hiking to rescue trees covered in vines and clean the garbage others leave. Please help us by signing this petition. The petition letter is listed on the below site under "Petition Letter" Please forward this email on to as many friends as you can, it's greatly appreciated.
